But its locking mechanism was horrible. It was a hassle to either lock or unlock and took a ridiculous amount of effort to do so. THIS latch I bought to replace it, but THIS latch is ONLY for EITHER of those placements (inside the yard or outside). I have attached it to the INSIDE of the gate to my backyard. That allows me to use a key to lock it from inside the yard. That required me to go to HomeDepot where I bought a simple wire-loop ($5.95) that I ran through a small hole I drilled in the gate, in and over the (inside) latch which now allows me to open an unlocked gate from outside the backyard by simply pulling the loop. The LOCKING mechanism with provided key is simple and works exceptionally well.
