Is this suitable to connect on plastic piping?

Compression fittings on plastic pipe Interestingly you can join copper and plastic with a lot of the same fittings; a lot of people don’t realise you can join a bit of plastic pipe with a compression fitting. A compression fitting works in the same way on a plastic pipe as it does on a copper pipe except that you need to put in a liner, which is there to keep the end of the pipe perfectly round. It is also there to protect the end of the pipe – when you put a push-fit fitting in there’s an O ring in there and if you don’t have the liner on, the square edge on the end of the plastic can damage the O ring and cause a leak. You might not know about it straight away but six months or even six years down the line it might develop a leak and if this causes any damage and an inspection shows the plumber neglected to put in a liner the plumber could be liable. Once you’ve inserted the liner the nut goes over the end of the pipe followed by the copper olive and then the fitting itself. Hand tighten this and then tighten with a spanner until it’s crimped on so that the olive compresses onto the pipe. That makes a secure fitting but just for belt and braces you can take the fitting off and wrap PTFE tape around the olive – using this approach I have never had a problem. Not sure as ive used all mine up. If you work on 40mm that should be enough. I just chiseled out plenty of wall to allow enough to fit and tighten. Also i used 15 turns of ptfe and joint compound to fit them to my concealed shower unit as these fittings can leak if not super tight fit.

Simple fitting to go from UK 15mm copper pipe to new taps with 1/2'' flexi hoses.

Great quality and price. I used these to replace kitchen taps that were supplied with flexi hoses and they did the job quickly and easily with no leaks despite not using PTFE. Instead I relied on the supplied olives to do the job and I was not disappointed. Great stuff and I'd buy again.

Good quality with a nice flat top for flexihoses

I used these on my first ever try at plumbing. These were easy to install but i did have a minor leak though one of the threads. I may have just not tightened it enough, or too much who knows. A quick bit of plumbers tape and all was well. I probably should have used tape in the first place but I didn't know what i was doing.

Very good product

5 pcs for £4.41 - great price. I used those to connect flexi hoses of mixer tap with F1/2 female to 15mm copper pipe. I've sealed it (screw on both ends) with silicon tape just in case - and it's working.
