Got it as a filter for my pet’s water fountain. Price is amazing compared to formal water fountain filter, and I can cut any size I want. However, it’s not the best to filter tiny stuff.

I cut this to size and put it in my shrimp tank. So far, it has filtered well. I like that there are different sized holes for filtration of large and small particles, and coming in one large pad makes it easy to cut to shape and use in a variety of applications. I just put some activated charcoal in a media bag on top, and I think the combo makes a more effective alternative to the proprietary cartridges.

Seems to work okay. It bothers me that the pattern on top and bottom aren't straight, but I'm mildly OCD. I've cut and used a few pieces. After 2 weeks I changed it and tried to clean the used pieces, but they've remained discolored.
