'If you won't get Her vision, who will?' With these words from Bhairavi Ma echoing in his heart, a young monk who had renounced a multimillion-dollar business empire retreated into the Himalayas. For thirteen months, he engaged in intense meditation, seeking the finest reward there is: self-realization. But what truly unfolded in those serene yet desolate mountains? Faced with biting cold, prowling wild animals, crippling hunger, and overwhelming isolation, Om Swami tested the limits of his mind and body. Struggling to sit in sadhana for hours, he oscillated between moments of transcendent joy and crushing despair. What spiritual practices did he adopt? How did he keep the 'spark' of sadhana alive? Were the rituals enough to reach the Divine, or did doubt and fear creep in, even for one so wise? Thirteen Months in the Himalayas offers a rare and mesmerizing glimpse into Om Swami's extraordinary journey of self-realization. A sequel to the bestselling If Truth Be Told, it takes you deeper into the heart of a monk's spiritual practice and his unwavering quest for the Divine. Review: Reflective & Thoughtful - After many years, I finally read a book in a single dayโand it was absolutely worth it. The Thirteen Months in the Himalayas by Om Swami is a deeply immersive narrative that transports you to the raw, silent edges of the Himalayas and into the intensity of his sadhana. The storytelling is simple yet powerful, making the spiritual journey feel real, personal, and profound. This is my first review on desertcart, and I felt compelled to write it for one reason: if you are someone like meโcaught between belief and doubt, where one side of you feels that God exists in everything while the other side questions it through logic and scienceโthen you must read this book. It doesnโt try to convince you forcefully. Instead, it gently opens a space for reflection, helping you understand devotion, surrender, and the subtle experience of the divine in a very honest way. I completely fell in love with Om Swamiโs devotion after reading this book. It is not just a storyโit is an experience. Highly recommended for anyone exploring faith, doubt, and the deeper meaning of spirituality. Review: A profound and unforgettable journey - Its is a deeply introspective and inspiring writing by Om Swamiji, recounting His time spent in solitude in the harsh and remote Himalayas. Unlike many spiritual books that speak in abstract terms, this one offers a raw, firsthand account of what it truly means to renounce worldly life and seek enlightenment. Om Swamiji takes us through His journey from a successful corporate life to the freezing isolation of the mountains, where He devoted Himself to Sadhana. He vividly describes the challenges he facedโunbearable cold, physical hardships, and the overwhelming silence that forced him to confront His own mind. Yet, amidst the struggle, He also shares moments of deep spiritual awakening, clarity, and inner transformation. What I found unique in this book, is that it's not just about philosophy; it offers a practical guide to self-discipline and resilience. Om Swamiji generously shares some of the sacred mantras and meditation routines that shaped his spiritual practice, offering motivation to me and those on their own journey of self-discovery. His writing is simple yet deep, making even the most complex spiritual experiences relatable. This book is helping me to look inward and reflect on lifeโs deeper meaning. Whether we are interested in spirituality, meditation, or simply an extraordinary real-life story of perseverance, Thirteen Months in the Himalayas is a must-read. It leaves you with a sense of awe and inspiration. Thank You, Swamiji, for such wonderful writing. Jai Sri Hari!

Almost a manual for spiritual seekers
This beautifuly written book is perhaps oriented more towards serious spiritual seekers, as it meticulously details the intense tapasya by Om Swamiji, in his own words. I read it multiple times, cover to cover, and one key inspiring takeaway that jumped out the most was that spiritual progress is achievable for literally anyone with "thirst", grit to endure lifetimes of hardship, and an unwavering dedication to their deity. Simply put, the book gives anyone hope.

If Truth Be Told Again
Iโll begin with a spoiler alert. Om Swamiji is my Guru. So yes, youโre welcome to view this review through that lensโif that helps you feel better. But here it is, straight from the heart. This book is honest. Itโs full of hope. And itโs a reality check in the truest sense. Honest? Absolutely. Om Swamiji, as always, is unflinchingly candid when he shares his experiences. The settingโthose mystical, unpredictable heights of the Himalayasโisnโt just a backdrop. Itโs a character itself, where danger lurks, magic unfolds, and every step is a leap into the spiritual unknown. His excitement is palpable. You can feel it. But then comes self-doubt. It creeps in-again and again. โWhat if Iโm wrong?โ โWhat if I get washed away?โ โWhat if the cave collapses on me?โ And thatโs the beauty of it. He doesnโt move through the journey like some untouchable sage. He stumbles. He questions. Fear, worry, physical painโthey are his constant companion. All this makes him seem like any other seeker, makes him seem human. Well almost. And thatโs why it resonates. Because if someone like him can face hell and still keep walkingโฆ maybe, just maybe, thereโs hope for the rest of us. Hope? Oh, yes. Om Swamiji demonstratesโbeyond a shadow of a doubtโthat what the Vedas speak of isnโt myth. Itโs real. Achievable. What the Rishis lived, he dared to testโwith skin in the game. Itโs easy to preach love, compassion, dispassion (Vairagya), and fearlessness. But Om Swamiji lives it. Thatโs the Vedic way. Preach less. Work like you are prepared to drop dead. Discipline. Patience. Devotion so deep it shakes your core. And stillโno promise. No guaranteed reward. Just the path. Reality check? Where am I, really, on my spiritual path? Is it foolish to even dream of emulating a journey like his? Can I make it a few steps? Let alone the whole way? Reading this book is like watching Usain Bolt fly past you, while youโre still figuring out how to tie your shoelaces. Itโs humbling. Maybe even brutal. But never discouraging. Because somewhere in the struggle, Om Swamiji plants a seed. He never claims to be special. He just stayed the course. And thatโs the hope. The goal might be far, maybe even out of reach. But the journey itself is the reward. Thatโs where change happens. Thatโs where real hope lives. Happy reading. subramaniam om

Blessing from the Divine
We all hear about God, that supreme consciousness, we pray to the form and some to the formless. As children we may have even sake our elders that Where is God ? Why doesnโt he or she come and meet me or give their Darshan? And this is what Divine mother and Bhagwaan Narayana did. They provided their unambiguous Darshan or sighting to Om Swami. Itโs one thing to just hear about it, but reading Om Swami journey of devotion, perseverance , truth and compassion makes you believe that the scriptures re indeed true and itโs possible to see god ( literally ) in this lifetime. Itโs a blessing to read this book. Truly a blessing.

A master reference manual to God Realization for mankind!!!
In the history of mankind, On planet earth, for the first time ever an enlightened monk by name Om Swami has given it in writing about the meticulous sadhana he had done which lead to his liberation. He is a Jivan mukth, it is evident from the pages of this book. No other Avatar has done it. Neither Buddha, Adi Sankara, Sri Ramakrishna, Sri Aurobindo, Swami Vivekananda had noted down in writing how they did sadhana themselves. A book filled with perservance, endurance, bhakthi, a Divine madness in search of the divine and how he achieved it and how everyone else can do the same, is what this book is about. Just completed a 16 day sadhana from sadhana app. When I compare my mantra chanting with how Om Swami does from this book, I can make out how mediocre my mind is and where exactly I am wrong and how to fix my goal and change my method of sadhana. This book helps a true sadhaka by giving a glimpse into the path of God Realization. It's a must read for every sincere seeker. I expected some unknown esoteric practice for the Sadhana but I was surprised to see the well known Vishnu Sahasranama and Lalitha Sahasranama and other known mantras for sadhana. It reiterates the fact that the mantra, which one selects is a medium to transcend the limitations of mind to enter the superconciousness. More than the mantra Shraddha, vairagya, mumukshuthva, discipline to synchronous thought, words and actions are what is needed. To sit for one hour of sadhana, the spine and knee breaks. To sit for 7 hours straight is simply superhuman effort. Buddha's guidance to Om Swami reiterates Sanatana dharma's principle of immortality that the Divine being when meditated upon will definitively show up and offer the choicest blessings on the sadhak and push him further on the path of sadhana. His personal experience of Mother Divine and Sri Hari, suspends the ego, silence the mind and transports the reader to the world of the Divine. It reiterates all that is said in the Indian scriptures about the superconcious realms and the bliss associated with it. The effect of Sri Ramakrishna movement took almost half a century or more for the efforts to bear fruit in this sacred land of bharat. What Om Swami with his superhuman effort does and what his disciples will do might have a faster effect on this country in this digital age! We have a superconcious being amidst us. This land should celebrate him and follow in his footstep to reclaim it's status as the spiritual beacon of the world. In my honest opinion this book should be made mandatory in all the schools which will raise the standard of the mindset of students in setting the bar so high which can be achieved with hard work and sternous effort. Om Swami's book and his method of sadhana can be taken up by anyone of any faith and if followed will lead to enlightenment of the seeker to his/her God or Deity!!! It's a master piece!!! Go for it and be filled with bliss and intoxication of the Divine! Jai Shri Hari!๐๐ท

An exceptional book from an exceptional master!
Swamiji is beyond words. His grandeur, his deep love for the Divine Mother, his unwavering devotion, self-discipline, and desperate longing to meet Her are unparalleled. He reminds me of those world champions in the Guinness Book of Recordsโdriven by an unrelenting passion, enduring excruciating challenges as they cross oceans or continents, never giving up until they achieve their goal. His brutal honesty stroke me, he cares little for public opinion. He has broken free from the chains and padlocks of societal expectations. He is truly free! What a book!

Guru,guide and a Role model
What an amazing book Swamiji! Thank you for sharing your process, experiences and insights from your 13 months stay in the Himalayas.I read each chapter a day and took in slowly what it offered me. How generous and compassionate of you to share your original Sadhana notes and powerful Sri Chakra drawings with your readers.I felt so drawn towards it and found it to be so powerful.Your dedication, determination, resilience and strength in keeping your resolutions is so exemplary.I found it so amusing and relatable to read that if you had called your own biological mother ,she would never make you wait. The most incredible, breathtaking and heartwarming experience in the book was the chapter 'Storm before the calm' when a peek into your divine vision of Sri Vishnu was given. It filled me with sweetness and gratitude. Your immense love and devotion for bhagwan was palpable. It is so assuring to know that such experience is possible only with relentless sadhana filled with boundless love, devotion and discipline. We are so blessed and fortunate to have access to your grace and wisdom. เคธเฅเคฅเคฟเคคเฅเคฝเคธเฅเคฎเคฟ เคเคคเคธเคจเฅเคฆเฅเคน: เคเคฐเคฟเคทเฅเคฏเฅ เคตเคเคจเค เคคเคต is the line that I loved most from the book and wish and pray to live by in life.

Incredible and unforgettable book (as all of OM Swami Ji's book).
This book electrified my modest aspiration to take up sadhana. It oozes honesty and simplicity of Swami ji. I have managed it uninterrupted up to chapter 11 and it is so beautifully written. There is so much detail as the chapter progress with Swami's schedule to the minutes. Most of HIS quandaries are so relatable through his journey here and yet HE is not a common man like us. It reminded me of my professional exam years. It fills one's heart with great admiration as you read upon, how Swami ji undertook the planning, preparation and execution of HIS sadhana so diligently. HE truly has given this world a detailed blueprint on how to do sadhana. Which was non-existent in the Sanatana Dharma literature so far. Cannot wait to read the rest of the chapters and especially number 18. On a general note, I always buy 2-3 paper copies of all HIS books. They are a "must have" in ones library. I did attend the Sri Sukatam Sadhana at his residence amongst 200 + disciples. It was an enchanting experience to perform the yajana beside HIM. However, the book is all together on a different level if seekers are looking for inspiration to take upon sadhana. I feel blessed to have got hold of a copy on Amazon. HE would always hold a special and imperishable place in my heart. ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ผ Part II of my review as I have completed the read. I am sad that it has come to an end. I cannot cherish it any longer like a special Netflix series or a pudding that one looks forward to at the end of a laborious stint (I say stint- as life can offer prolonged, hard, tiring, difficult stints even when money is plentiful ๐๐ผ). Getting back to the book review- The chapters (from 12th one) had gotten more intense with more details and accounts of mantra sadhanas, Swami Ji's experiences and has approach towards anything and everything. I felt totally convinced that there is so much to gain from that I started a sadhana straight after my return as I seem to have no jet lag ๐๐ผ. A lot of the detail can be found in, The Ancient Science of Mantras and The Gayatri Sadhana book as well. But reading this book after reading the others clarifies the processes more and more for me, plus the Sadhana App. I am suggesting this "NOT as a promotion for Swami ji's books and Apps propaganda" ๐๐ผ . I am stating my experience as he quietly adds a lot of details in all his works and one can easily bypass it whilst in the flow of doing a Sadhana. For Swami ji it is lifetimes of experience and it now "seems effortless' but for a novice like me even reading a mantra in english is a lot of effort, let alone following HIS pronunciation. The chapters are so much like an exceptional biopic with details of Sadhana. Especially the chapter 14. Swami ji also clarifies details like astral travel, celestial music etc. and explains them with a scientific approach. The chapter 18 and 19 (Chop wood, Fetch water) are indescribable. It is not just the journey and attainment but it is what HE did/ does after that. How HE thinks, approaches life and is doing/ will do is so uniquely distinguishable from a 'commoner's" thinker. This book will for sure change one's "thinking and perspective towards life. I felt like this when I read "If truth be told" when i bought it on 10/11/2017. I get frustrated, upset, emotional and at times mentally fight with Swami ji ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ผ as he is becoming "inaccessible" but my fondness and plights have intensified ever since. HIS work has totally changed my thinking process and my demeanour has had a "sizemic shift" too, from early days. HE is "extremely rare, and is for a limited offer only (I believe so) in present day and his books are unalloyed, totally different from Indian religious books. HIS "philosophy of life" is like none other ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ๐๐ผ. Please make the most whilst HE is in this living form ๐๐ผ.

The incredible journey of Om Swami
Thirteen months in the Himalayasโ is an amazing book by Om Swami and is a must read for serious seekers. The book is almost like a sadhana diary in which he has accounted every minute of his meditation and sadhana routine and his daily rigorous practices while he was in the Himalayas. For seekers on the spiritual path this book is a must read and the only book required as they can realise that โsadhana se sambhav haiโ. Attainment is absolutely possible with sadhana.

authentic account of an inspiring spiritual search
What a beautiful read this book is. I am freshly minted follower of Shri Om Swamiji after viewing his discourses on youtube. Recently binge-read the first book โIf truth be toldโ and now this masterpiece. Both the books have several scenes which evoked intense emotions; many times i found myself crying, smiling, getting goosebumps or simply looking up in the sky. I really like that he doesnโt fit the โpublic opinionโ of how a monk should be; otherwise it would be really hard for people like me to connect with him and his teachings. Everytime he mentions landscapes, places or restaurants in Sydney, the hopeful romantic in me recalls having visited a lot of those places myself and finds some joy in being where this great personality once was. This book is a must read for serious seekers, especially those who dont have guru yet.
