Tasty fish paste
Great spread on buttered toast!

Best fish paste ever!
Peck's Anchovette fish paste is without rival. It's pricey, but I understand it is an imported product. Anyway, one uses only a small amount, say on a slice of toast, so one can make a bottle last.

Good on crackers, better on toast
I do not understand why foolish people assume this is anchovy. The name says it is NOT anchovy, and the list of ingredients indicates that it is not anchovy. I had been looking for this ever since I first tasted it some 20 odd years ago when a friend brought a tin back from Africa. You cannot get it in the USA, so I was delighted to see it on Amazon.

Haven't had a taste yet to see it it tastes the same but it looks legit... Long expiry date which is useless because if it tastes the same it won't last two weeks... Yummy! For people who never had it before, "Peck's Anchovette" is just the name of the brand. Don't expect it to just have or taste like anchovies. It's a mix of pilchards, mackerel and anchovies. I would say it tastes more of the pilchards though. It's great on buttered toast and unsalted crackers. It is a great source of omega 3.

The real thing - but salty
Same product as when I was a kid. Now that we more health conscious realize it contains too much daily value for salt.

Buy this, immediately.
If you’ve made it this far, you’re clearly tempted so commit fully and buy the spread! South Africans were raised on this stuff, and it’s delicious. There is nothing like thick butter on toast (that has cooled down a little so it doesn’t melt all the way in) and spreading fish paste all over. You’ll want to eat an entire loaf of bread and tub of butter in one sitting, so be prepared and stock up on supplies! If you’re not into a fishy taste, save your money because this is a fish spread. A little tip, keep the jar on its lid in the fridge and it’ll make the fish paste last longer than the recommended “eat within 10 days” printed on the lid.

Anchovette is really Mackerelette?
Supposedly made with anchovies, and named "Anchovette", the fine print makes clear that other fish are the primary ingredients. I suppose they waved an anchovy over the fish paste and a molecule or two wafted down, but the main taste is of oily mackerel. Extremely disappointed.

Hello, Again
First, I'd like to ask y'all if this is the same "person" selling Peck's whom I've been ordering from? Because your packaging is marvelous now! The jars all rolled up and packed so perfectly with not only a lovely, artistic business card enclosed but 2 sweet candies which were almost as yummy as the Peck's which my husband yearns for should I run out of his stores! He misses other SA food stuff, however, I do believe that he'd rather take a major beating as to have to forego his morning toast with Peck's. / JJ
