**Q: Is the "medium" cage the ss or the gs version? shimano literature does not use the terms "short" or "medium" in their descriptions of the rd 8000.**
A: medium is GS, short is SS for Shimano RD-8000 derailleurs. They cover 11-28T to 11-34T and 11-25T to 11-28T, respectively.

**Q: is this for 10 speed ?**
A: Actually, this will work with 10sp Tiagra.  If you have ST-4700 levers (not sure about the MTB (flat bar) shifter version), then the pull ratio will work for and as 10sp on your 10sp cassette and shifter.   You'll be future-proofed when you decide to switch out the lever, chain and cassette for actual 11sp.  

I am running ST-4700, RD-R8000GS, CS-MT771-10, CN-6701 (10sp) chain and everything works flawlessly.
