Easy install and effective
We put these up for our daughter once we took the front off of her crib. The lock was relatively easy to install and it has been effective in preventing my daughter from leaving the room at night if she decides to get up and walk around. The install is easy, but note that you have to drill into your door frame! I don't think this was stated clearly enough in the product review. For us, doing this was worth keeping the door locked, but if you have any type of antique wood or any other reason not to damage the material around your door frame, this may not be for you. One other thing. We were low-key worried about the lock being too solid in the case of an emergency. I can say, for any adult in an emergency situation, this lock would be able to be removed by force with no problem. However, my 2 year old daughter could not force this open on her own (which is what we would prefer).

A must for kids interior doors and bathrooms
These have been great for keeping our newborn and 2 year olds (now 3 and 5) out of trouble. We put these locks on their bedrooms and all the house bathrooms. (No more toys down the toilet or sinks left running). We don't use the hanging down clear plastic piece because we are not in the 4 ft range (my Aunt is, she's the only person who seems not to like these things. It gives me a chance to taunt her so it only adds to my overall rating). When it comes time to remove them permanently, there will just be one single hold drilled, very easy to patch and not noticeable anyway. The only failure to report is that when my wifes' friend crashed through the bathroom door one of the pieces broke. Can't really blame the part, she had a head full of steam and stomach (and bladder) full of wine. I knocked off 1 star from the "Durability" rating for this, but frankly I'm glad to know that if I need to get through the door in a hurry it won't be an issue for an adult.

Great solution for the price.
Do exactly what they stay and literally take less than five minutes to install. The only two issues I have are the posts are a little longer than I would like (I may cut them down) and while they do hold the door closed it does allow them to open a little which might cause a pinch point.

Useful to keep littles in room after bedtime
We've successfully used these on multiple doors to help toddlers learn to stay in their room at bedtime and to keep kiddos out of rooms (eg from playing in the bathroom/potty). My 5 year old now likes it to keep the younger child out of their room and toys. Easy for adults to unlock. I recommend placing the screw/peg closer to the doorknob side to make it more difficult to break by a child. We have had to replace a few (and I wish I could buy just the over the door frame component separately!), but this works well and the hole in the top of the door frame isn't visible unless looking for it.

Product works but feels flimsy/questionable durability. Might be delivered missing critical pieces.
I need to start off by saying that it DOES work and hasn't broken yet. It was an easy installation, too. I do wonder how long it will last, though. It flexes under light pressure and I'm betting in a month or two my son will be strong enough to snap it. Sigh: I'm also disappointed that it only came with 2 plastic wands when it should have come with 4, rendering the second lock useless until I find something to jerry-rig for the plastic wands.

Literally brilliant
10/10 would recommend these. I put them on the double doors leading into my office. There were only a few solutions available for this door configuration on Amazon, I took my chances with this one and I have no regrets. Really easy to install and really effective in keeping my headstrong 4 year old from taking my crafting scissors to my collectibles. You have to drill into your door frame but it’s so worth it.

Disappointed
I watched the video review of this item and coupled with the fact that this is listed as an "Amazon choice" item I thought this was a good buy. It took my 3yr about 5 minute to realize that if you wiggle the door enough the lock slides open. In addition, within 14 days the one I had installed cracked in two with the extrnsion wand getting caught in the door as my daughter rattled the door open. This bent the wand. Which wasn't much of a loss considering every time I used the wand it felt like it was going to snap in half. Like most people the option to return this item is disabled. I asked Amazon about this, since it's fulfilled by Amazon and a Amazon choice item I couldn't imagine why it couldn't be returned. The very nice CSR informed me it's for safety reasons. Since it's for childproofing they can't risk sending the returned item on to another person. I really would not advise anyone to purchase these.

Great for double doors
We have double doors in our office that do not have a latch on them, but instead have a roller catch on the top like a closet door. We had problems with our 80 and 90 lb dogs 'breaking in' by pushing on the doors and entering the office and sleeping on the couch in there (leaving hair everywhere!). Then, we had our son- and when we started child proofing, I decided I didn't really want him in there (one less room to worry about- besides, there are tall book cases in there and stuff to climb!) I wasn't sure if these would work because the reviews weren't too clear, but they do! My husband installed them pretty quickly. You screw in a peg type piece into the door jam, then the slider part sits on top of the door (as other mentioned, its not held on by anything other than gravity and the shape of the plastic. When the door is closed, you slide the slider so that the peg fits into the slot and voila, it won't open. On our doors, we had to try a couple of spots on the top of the door to see where it would slide/get stuck before screwing in the peg part. I can see how if your door/door jams were really tight this wouldn't work. It did work for our application though, since we had no door knob/latch mechanism, just the roller catches at the top. I can't think of any other way we could have 'locked' that room. The dogs and the toddler can't get in now :)
