This thing rocks. I always hated compost bins because I thought they smelled and attracted bugs. However, this product is legit. I've had it for a few months now and it has completely changed my opinion of composting. The bin looks nice in your kitchen especially if you have stainless steel fixtures. The inner plastic bin is ingenious. It keeps the bin from getting rusty from moisture and makes clean-up easy. I use compostable green bags and then just wipe the plastic bin out when I'm tossing the trash. I've thrown all kinds of food scraps in the bin and have no encountered any bad smells. Also I have not had any bugs either. This could also be because I live in a high rise and its not summer but still no unwanted pests is a good thing. Highly recommend. I also don't leave food in the bin for longer than 3-4 days at a time so I'm sure good habits plus a great product makes composting easy.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't trust products with hundreds of 5 star reviews because I'm so sure they're paid fake reviews by robots, right? Am I insane? I guess I'm asking that you trust me when I say I'm a human. I've been counter composting for about a year. I live in a dry climate in the US. I've been using an old metal mixing bowl with no lid. I'm very accustomed the normal levels of kitchen mold, the slight smell, and fruit flies that circle an open compost bowl. I upgraded to this grey metal bucket after I spent HOURS reading reviews. Again, I just don't trust those short sweet reviews but I do trust photos. The bucket I almost bought was bigger but there were so many horrifying photos of rust that I chickened out and got this one instead. This compost bin has been amazing. It's cute, durable enough, and has the inner bowl which was a MUST. I can just carry it out to my bin outside, dump it, rinse it clean, and start over again. I haven't noticed a smell AT ALL and I haven't seen any flies or mold yet. Though, mold is normal so I'm not worried about that. YES it is a little on the small side (Family of 2, making 2-3 meals each week, and coffee everyday, we fill this once a week) I DO have to dump it more often than my frightening bowl of spilling scraps from before but I actually prefer it. It's enjoyable to carry outside, and I like keeping it looking nice so I'm more likely to take care of it. I'll try and remember to post in 6 months to show how it holds up. We've only been using it for about 2 weeks and we love it. I'm so glad I bought this one. The lid is not too hard to remove, it just nests inside the grey bowl and on top of the white one (though you can press it tight if you prefer)

I wish I could give this 5 stars! It is a wonderful size and looks very nice on my counter. The problem I have is that it came with a printing error on the front. The M,P and O are not completed on the front. When I contacted customer service they said it isn't damaged, just a printing error... we apologize and that was it. So even though I love it, I am not happy with the quality with something as simple as printing and then double checking how it looks before packaging it up. Updated review: Customer service has responded again and they have resolved the issue so I can now give it 5 stars. The bucket is easy to empty and clean and the filter on the top does work well! No smells!

I purchased this to help with composting. We were using a bowl previously when slicing fruits and veggies in large quantities. I wanted something that looked nice on our counter top though and would allow us to put a cover on it as we live in Maine and sometimes it's simply too cold in the winter to toss scraps in the compost in the dark. Obviously one must clean immediately however, we have left scraps overnight before and there was no issue come morning. I may have missed it in the description but the insert is plastic, sturdy mind you, but we are attempting to do away with plastic. I do however, like the unit. Price is right, came exactly as pictured, looks nice, helps us to keep organized, etc. Only reason I give this a 4 instead of 5 stars is for the plastic insert. Unit is easy to clean as well and holds quite a bit of scraps.

been using it daily for past 6 months. Still on same filter but I think I need to change it soon. I put fruits, vegetables, and egg shells in it. At times it's not big enough like if I am peeling apples for 3 pies with all the cores and peels it does fill quickly, but I just use another bowl for the rest, and since this has a handle it makes carrying it outside easier and I use my other hand for the other bowl. I didn't want it any bigger because then it would just take up more space on the counter. For most days it is the perfect size for me, and I empty it every 2 or 3 days. If your family has more than a couple people in it then you might want a bigger one but for us it's perfect. Very attractive also.

I rarely write product reviews but I'm on my second/nearly third season using this compost pale and it is one of the best things I have purchased for the kitchen. It's stylish and very functional. The inside plastic pale comes out easily to empty into the compost bin. There are just two of us in the household but we make a lot of vegetable scraps and drink coffee every morning. We empty the pale about once every two-three days. There has never been a problem with odors. I really just love this product!

The selected color matches my kitchen decor pretty well so it looks nice sitting on the counter rather than hidden away in a cupboard. So far, no odors at all. The inner plastic bucket is very convenient for lifting out and disposing of compost in a larger bin or pile. My only complaint is that you should be advised that it is actually quite small. Didn't remove a STAR for this as the volume is clearly specified in the product. Maybe we generate more compostable material than some, but I would have liked a larger volume. Before searching for Kitchen Compost Containers, I was going to use a 5 gallon bucket, but placement was an issue along with odor. I looked at some of the larger (1.3 gallon) items, but this one had, overall, the feature set I wanted. It would be great if they came out with a similar item in a 2 gallon size.

There are several things I really like about this compost bucket. The filtered lid works well and I absolutely love the plastic inner bucket, which makes clean up so easy. It could be bigger, but overall I was very satisfied with this product...until it got a bit greasy and I wiped down the outside with a soapy sponge. When I did this, the lettering all smeared. I can't believe it didn't hold up to ordinary dish soap and the soft side of a sponge!

It's too small but very pretty in the kitchen.

The wife wanted this because of the color and it looks good on the counter. The bad thing is the inner plastic pail is hard to dump out because of where the handle is. I removed the handle and leave both pails together.

I love how it looks. Really cute on my countertop! There's no smell or fruitflies.
