No.It is NOT made from ground WHOLE seed. Kevala tahini is made from ground HULLED sesame seeds.Hulled sesame seeds are no longer whole, because they have had their hull removed. A hull, or husk, is the outer shell of a seed or grain. When hulls are removed, seeds and grains become milder in flavor, but they lose a portion of their nutritional profile. Therefore, hulled sesame seeds are milder in flavor, but unhulled sesame seeds are more nutritious - just like white bread compared to whole wheat bread.Tahini can be made from either hulled or unhulled sesame seeds, although it is typically made from hulled. Where's the origin of your black sesame? USA or other countries?

The bag of Kevala USDA organic black sesame seeds states "grown in USA". Assuming they use their own seeds to make tahini, then grown and made in USA.

Hello Ralph, yes Kevala removes the hulls of the sesame seeds in a mechanical way, which is considered superior to other techniques like using salt water, as this way it does not add sodium in the process to the tahini. Enjoy !

Excellent Tahini, Makes the Perfect Salad Dressing

I’ve been using this tahini for a while now and I’m really happy with how smooth it is. The texture is creamy and easy to stir, without being overly thick or dry. The flavor is rich and nutty with no bitterness, which makes a big difference in sauces and dressings. It blends beautifully into hummus, salad dressings, and marinades without needing extra oil. My favorite is to drizzle on my salad alond with a couple shakes of coconut aminos and it is all I need, delicious. I like that it’s organic and made with simple, clean ingredients. Siempre he comprado de Tahití de esta marca, esta vez me dio una sensación de un poco amargo y más aceitoso que en ocasiones anteriores. Obvio que por el tipo de contenido aún y cuando venía muy bien empacado, si había rastros de aceite que se derramó un poco.

I love this tahini, the only problem is you cannot return it and once in a while, it does come separated, which therefore is very impossible to use
