Black Myth: Wukong - PlayStation 5

The visuals are absolutely beautiful, and the world inspired by Chinese mythology feels rich and immersive from the start. Combat is challenging but rewarding, with smooth animations and boss fights that really test your skills without feeling unfair. The story and atmosphere pull you in, and the game runs great on PS5 with solid performance and fast load times. If you enjoy action RPGs with deep combat, tough enemies, and amazing visuals, this game is 100% worth picking up.

Great game! The visuals are breath-taking and you can tell this game took a great deal of time to make. I'm enjoying every minute of it. The combat, though challenging, is very fair. You have an entire arsenal of spells/attacks at your disposal- it's up to you to figure out how to beat your opponents. Well done Game Science, I'm looking forward to Part 2!

Black Myth Wukong is set around Chinese Mythology, specifically the Journey to the West novel series, don’t expect a full game iteration of the story as it’s entirely different really only featuring characters and occasionally lore from the original. You play as “The Destined One” who sets out to find the 5 ancient relics of Sun Wukong (a very important central character of Journey to the West) to fulfill his destiny and ultimately become his successor, going through the 6 chapters of the game, fighting boss to boss until reaching the end where you claim the relic before moving onto the next. The game to me feels very similar to a soulslike, while also removing aspects and mechanics from the genre to differentiate itself from other titles, providing a unique experience to players. The gameplay is fast paced with a dodge and perfect dodge mechanic, 3 different attack stances (Smash, Pillar, and Thrust stance), along with a “focus point” system that has you using light attacks to charge these points to unleash more powerful heavy attacks or special abilities depending on which stance you find most fun to use, when you gain enough exp by killing enemies and bosses, you level up and gain a “Spark” which can be used to upgrade or unlock abilities in the massive skill tree to fit your playstyle. In terms of difficulty, it feels hard but fair, no boss felt unfair or unbeatable, but has you learning the attack patterns until you can eventually beat it, the gameplay loop is so satisfying and fun to go through being borderline addictive, there’s also a lot of replayability to be had if desired. All this paired along side beautiful visuals and graphics, a cinematic soundtrack featuring epic orchestral renditions of original music from the Journey to the West tv series, and the unique story and lore provide for an either nostalgic experience for fans of the original story, and a fantastic game that meets the expectations it had.

Dark souls style game, no difficulty settings. If you dont like dying a lot, you won't like this game. Its beautiful and fun with a great story!!

Game quality is very good only issue it came up with is that there was an error message while trying to download update. Wouldn’t complete updated file

If you dont like challenging games like for example the Dark souls games, Elden ring, Sekiro or Bloodborne you should probably stay away from this one. It is extremely punishing if you are not good at those games or dont like those types of games. Personally I love challenging games and all of the Souls and Souls like games. I dont like easy walk through the park games so Wukong is absolutely perfect for my taste. Again if you are not a fan of the Souls games or Souls like games stay far far away from this one or you will be very disappointed. It was by far my favorite game of 2024 but its definitely not for the casual gamers who don't want to be challenged and just want to have fun destroying everything in your path with no problems. You will die many many times on the same enemies if you are not good at these types of games. There are no difficulty settings in this game so you are stuck with what the developers chose to do just like most Souls games and Souls like games. It is absolutely nothing like God of war of Ghost of Tsushima if that is what you are thinking. Great game but not for everyone.

As a consistent campaigner, this game surprised me on all factors. From beautiful visuals to the combat or to the immersive world, I was impressed. It’s challenging but rewarding and definitely worth playing.
