Used this to fix a recurring problem with the door air cylinder on our LTV Unity MB. The pivot pin fot yhe air cu;inder keeps falling out letting the door to swing out against the coach. This pin and Rivet Nut were never installed into the door frame properly from the factory and is a known problem in the LTV community. Most people are putting up with it or ordering replacent air cylinders and pins over and over, but the problem is the rivet nut was just press fit into the hole. I chose this set because my hole has become oversixe and the wings formed during compression completely removed any excess play side to side and worked beautifully. Very easy instuctions to follow and I have posted this on the LTV Bulletin board as an simple and easy fix Well worth the money.

This was a perfect solution to reattach hinges to a screen door where the sheet metal screws finally stripped out. The trick was to get the biggest rivnut that would fit on the edge of the door, which in my case was the M4 (4 mm). The original stripped out holes were drilled to accept the multigrip rivnut, which appeared to be a better solution than a standard one. The base of the tool didn't quite fit in the recess of the door edge so it wasn't flush against the rivnut, but that was easily remedied by inserting a few washers between them. I was concerned about breaking off the screw as was reported in other reviews. So, I sacrificed one rivnut to observe its collapse outside of the "blind hole", while counting the number of turns required to collapse it. It really doesn't take much torque, and after the first one or two you get a good feel for when it's fully tightened. Cap screws were used as they have a "built-in" washer and minimal height so as not to interfere with the door closure. Finally, the rivnut flange thickness was a concern at first, because the hinge plate would no longer lay flush onto the door edge , but it was negligible at about 1 mm so the door still fit and works flawlessly. The kit only had six rivnuts so I bought an extra pack, so this entire project only cost less that $30 vs a new Pella door for hundreds (assuming I could find one...).

The rivet nut setting tool in this kit is much too frail. It snapped on my first use. I had to waste an hour trying to figure out how to drill out the broken part. And now the rest of the kit is useless. There are much better options out there.

I bought the complete metric kit. Overall this tool worked very well, even on sheet metal. I was fabricating an aluminum catalytic converter box for my Sprinter. These plus nuts gave me a way to mount the box using existing holes after I drilled them out. Some of the unibody "frame" that I was mounting this too was single layer sheet metal. To make sure I had a good grip I drill the hole to precisely accommodate the small shoulder under the flange of the plus nut. I also used some left over Sikaflex 554 to seal the bare metal edge of the hole and maybe give the plus nut more grip. I tried using the included step drill but after one use it was too dull to do anything. Luckily I already had a complete drill index on order and used that. My other concern is how thin the bottom cap is that screws onto the barrel of the tool. One other customer here has picture of his shattering. I think this should be machined to be thicker as this is the surface or "anvil" that the plus nut is pulled against. I used large thick washers between the plus nut and anvil/cap to distribute the force to the outer edge of the tool where there is more strength. Other that having to fiddle with it a bit I think this is a pretty decent tool, especially for tight areas.

My knowledge of this subject is limited, but I have confidence in the attachment they provide. They are easy to use and seem strong. I set them with a PRN-1 and have not tried to install them manually.

Great rivet. Used this to bolt down my tool box in the bed of my truck. Also nice that it came with multiple sizes for other jobs.

I have another version of this tool and this new one is the BOSS. I Love it, i use my makita to set the nuts and it works so easy and fast. I wish I bought this one a long time ago instead of struggle with my last one. Great item

Plus rivetnut are great when you need extra grip. Tool is well made and works great. These are a life saver when regular rivnuts won't work or if the hole is a little too big for regular rivnuts to lock in. Only wished the kit came with more rivnuts. Definately will buy again and in some different sizes.

Garbage. Broke on first use. Cheap white metal. Don't buy under any circumstances
