Review: Gets hot enough to produce that elusive wok hei! - Gets hot enough to produce that elusive wok hei! I have an electric cooktop in my home and only a downdraft fan so I haven’t been able to do wok cooking for years. I set this wonderful unit on a small table out on my deck and I’m able to get it smoking hot in an instant, with no worries about filling my kitchen with all the smoke and vaporized grease that is necessary for good wok cooking. My son came to try it out, certain that it wouldn’t measure up to his gas stove and fancy wok, but ended up being very impressed. He had needed to resort to using a small kitchen blowtorch in his kitchen to achieve that wonderful smoky effect but it wasn’t necessary with this unit. (He also has to disable his smoke alarms before wok cooking). The wok itself was very well seasoned and I have taken good care of it to make sure it stays that way. It is nice and light to handle and so easy to clean. It is also quite thin which means it both heats and cools very quickly, which is mostly a good thing. The only thing it can’t do, which I knew going in, is heat far up the sides. As long as you don’t try to cook a large quantity at once that’s not a problem. I was a little surprised that if I dumped in a larger quantity of ingredients at one time(maybe 3 or 4 cups), it would take a little longer than I expected to get back to smoking hot, but it did get the job done. All in all I am thrilled with this appliance and my husband has been equally thrilled with all my newly inspired wok cooking. I even got a deck umbrella just so I can keep using this in our rainy Oregon winters. I personally wouldn’t want to use it inside unless I had a commercial grade vent hood. I’m also quite happy that the manufacturer extends the warranty to 5 years if you register the product.
Review: Love this thing. Period. - We had been using an older, flat-bottomed electric wok with a non-stick coating. We decided to switch to a non-stick wok for health/safety reasons. Our stove is electric, not gas so we'd need a flat-bottomed pan if we were to go the stovetop route. We'd also be subject to the issues with element heating slowly, etc. We decided to buy the Nuwave unit. This thing is great. Heats up rocket-fast and gets much hotter than our old wok. It has a rounded bottom, is relatively light and fits perfectly into the concave induction base--very stable. Instructions are provided for seasoning, and controls are more than adequate. Comes with a cover. Cleans surprisingly easily. I recognize this is a lot more expensive than just buying a pan. If you can afford it, it is more than worth it. Jury is still out on durability and build quality--we haven't owned this long enough to comment. If there's an issue down the road I'll update the review. In sum, we bought this to avoid PFAS and PTFE, but there were a lot of positives that make this a good move.

**Q: If you have used this to deep fry (like, tempura) how consistent is the temperature settings? If you set it to 375 will the oil actually heat to 375?**
A: Yes- temperature settings are very accurate.  The thermostat will keep up with the food added to the oil.

**Q: Is this wok pre-seasoned? 14-inch cook for how many people?**
A: The NuWave Wok does not come pre-seasoned. However, Seasoning instructions are included in the Owner's Manual. The 14-inch cook is a good size for a family of four.

**Q: Do you have to turn the wok to get the sides hot?**
A: The carbon steel wok is custom-made for the Mosaic’s induction base, ensuring the curvature of the wok and the base match perfectly. This means that the total surface of the wok comes in contact with the induction surface, ensuring every part of the wok heats up quickly and evenly every time.

**Q: Purchased this 4 months ago for $99.99 and wanted to buy another one.  Why a $50.00 increase?**
A: Lol now in January 2023 it’s $200, $300 for the whole kit. I would guess the reason is 1) demand 2) inflation and supply chain crap 3) profiteering — see 1.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It took getting used to but once I did it has been great

Setup is easy, as it is 3 parts (base with cord, Lid, Wok) The wok is pre treated carbonized Steel. Usability is simple, as a little oil, turn the left knob to the desired temperature, and press the right knob. If you adjust the temp up or down it automatically cools or heats. Heating is quite fast, so make sure your ingredients are ready. (Melt coconut oil to starting to stir fry in a minute or 2), If frozen ingredients it does recover the heat fairly quick. I use the lid while thawing in the pan and stir frying. Heated area is the middle to about 1/4the way up, anything above that just gets spread heat from the pan, top is cool, so great for holding items as the sides are not to steep It's quite stable, but you can't toss with the pan, or the unit will been saying the pan is too far away. So you more or less stir fry with 2 utensils instead. Does a great job of keeping theiddle temp for frying, boiling off, etc. Cleanup is a breeze, just wash with a scrub daddy. If anything is burned on just add water and heat to a boil, it comes up easily. Maintenance: after washing fully dry it off put it on the burner and dry it, then wipe with oil and let it smoke a second to preseason. (This part is important as all carbonized Steel like cast iron will rust of left wet. The pan also works on portable wok flame burner as well. Quirks, if you use preheat till it stops, I could not figure out how to get it to heat again. You can't lift the pan or it will turn off Er1 after 10 seconds. It is not quite cooking, you hear the whir of the rotating magnet mechanism under the bowl shape plastic holder. Like most induction that area only has residual heat from the pan, but it does not get hot enough to not be able to touch it, more like a very warm. The pan though gets hot.
