Great light unit for winter depression
Wow, this is a great find. Clear bright light, easy to use, works well and does what it was made for. I looks goood sitting on the counter, is easy to use. It was expensive compared to the smaller 8" X 10" units, but well worth the cost. I have SAD (winter depression) and have benefited greatly from using full spectrum therapy lamps (Often called SAD lights). This one has an unusually large screen, rather than sitting close to it, as I have done with smaller versions, I have it on the kitchen counter and turn it on first thing in the morning while I am making coffee and unloading the dishwasher. It's impact has been significant, really helps, I've had little winter depression this year.

Love This Light
Love this light! It is the perfect size for my dressing table, where I use it daily along with a magnification mirror to check out my face. Amazing what one can see with a really good light. It is lightweight, has several brightness settings, easy to use and seems to be of very good quality.

Very helpful during gray winter months
Very good quality. Large enough and bright enough to actually work. This has helped my husband a lot during the gray winter months. He is more energetic and has a more positive attitude.

I'd have given it 5 stars if the power cord were a few feet longer
They cut a few corners on this, but the only one that could affect you is the length of the cord. Otherwise, I'd give this 5 stars. I mean, it works exactly as advertised, and Optimize Your Biology says it's "No Risk" for flicker, meaning the flicker is so minimal that sensitive people won't be affected, and it's a pleasure for me to use and operate. The stand isn't as bad as others have said. It's just a matter of understanding how it's designed to work: in order for you to be able to make it go down further, you have to raise it up slightly to "unlock" it so that you can make it go down further. If you want to lock it in place, you just make sure it's sitting right on top of one of the lock positions and you're golden. It doesn't glide smoothly like a nice VESA monitor stand on a high-end monitor and it doesn't work the same way in the least bit (where it seems to have a spring pushing upward at all times), and each click as it unlocks and locks another position is somewhat loud, and I know this is an issue for some individuals with special needs. Anyway, so I love this thing. Once I understood how to adjust the height and lock it in place, I fell completely in love with everything else except for the short cord. The fact that it's hardwired to the light and not through the stand means the cord needs to be 2-3 feet longer, but it's a corner they decided to cut and I have an extension cord, so I'm good to go. They say don't leave it on too long or else the thermal protection will shut it off for a while. I've been able to have mine on for several hours straight (and counting) without this happening, and it's at 100% brightness. However, my room is rather cool, never more than the upper 60's Fahrenheit. So, that tells me that either my room would need to be much warmer for this thing to have a chance of overheating, or mine's built quite well. I think it's the cool ambient temperature. Assembling it was straight forward and easy. I bought this for its size. I started with the Carex Day-Light Sky but then I learned from Optimize Your Biology that they consider it to be "high risk" for people sensitive to flicker. I am, and so it explained why it was simultaneously good for me yet bad for me. With the Day-Light Elite, I can have it on all day and never feel any negative effects from any flicker that it *does* have. It's as smooth as butter and soft and perfectly bright for me. I do wish though that Carex had given this thing a stand that can make the light go up much higher to make it easy to get the light to enter the eyes at the most optimal angle no matter where the light is placed. With where I have to put it, I have to make myself go down lower if I want the light to be just as though it's coming down from the sky so that it at the optimal angle since the light needs to go down to the bottom-half of the back portions of the eyeballs. That's why campfires aren't as alerting as they would be if that same color and brightness were coming from an overhead light. Lastly, if your space is so small that your bed is often a table and if you ever wanted to place this on your bed while you're awake, then just know that it can tip easily on my bed. It's very difficult to get just the right spot so that it doesn't tip over. I think that covers everything I wanted to cover. I don't use the different brightness levels or the timer, so I just turn it on, use it, and then I leave it on for a while to continue benefiting from this light. Where I live, I don't have a choice. I simply can't get enough light in here otherwise, and it's hard for me to get outside often enough, and so for now I am using this. As the weather gets more comfortable, I'll depend on this less and less but I will *always* use it for a bright light therapy session upon waking. I'll probably otherwise be getting enough sunlight every day that I might not have to keep it on for a while after every therapy session. So yeah, I freakin' love this thing. I get all the benefits of preventing light deprivation, plus it's easy on my eyes and easy on my senses and it's big too. I have a few minor things I would change, but it seems the only way to get something better would be to build my own. I'm not so inclined to do that, so for now, this will be the best clinical-grade bright light therapy light that I think I can get - if I want the least amount of flicker and good comfort on my senses. I forgot one thing: unboxing and reboxing can be a challenge, especially reboxing. Don't get this if you think you might ever need to rebox this in its original retail packaging because you'll need some extra time to learn how to put it all back the way it came. Otherwise, just tear into it and enjoy. I almost forgot: mine had no lasting odor of any kind. It had a "new" odor, but it faded away quickly enough that I forgot about it until just now while trying to think of things to talk about. I'm saying I suddenly remembered that some people said there Day-Light Elite had a strong odor that never faded. I'll let you in on a secret: tell Carex. I wasn't entirely honest about mine not having an odor. I'll just say that the one I have *now* never stunk, like I said. Carex has good customer service. Ok, now I think it's safe for me to say that this is everything. Thank you for looking at my review.

Light Up Your Life
I did not purchase this light for its therapeutic effects, and cannot speak to those claims. I purchased it because I suffer from low vision, in particular a loss of contrast. I find myself dreading sunset and cloudy days. My hope was that this light, used as a reading lamp, would enable me to easily see and read in those conditions. And so it does. It was so easy to assemble that I didn’t even have to look at the instructions. It comes with the only tool I needed. I love that it has a tilt feature, a choice of four brightness settings, and a handy timer so that I can set it for automatic shut off in 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. I also love that it can be removed from the arm and hung on a wall or placed on a tabletop supported by the kickstand. In my opinion this is a very thoughtfully designed light that has completely changed my attitude about the weather or time of day. If I had three wish’s it would be that I had known about it sooner, that it was on a swivel base and that it could be detached from the arm without having to remove the four screws.

The stand is not good. Put it on a monitor arm. Strong chemical smell.
Overall, it feels cheap. It has an offensive and strong chemical smell. The light works and it's very bright. The stand doesn't work very well. It's hard to get the light to stay at a desired height - especially at the top of the range. I bought this one because it was the only one I saw that supported a VESA mount. I was planning to put it on a desk-mount monitor arm anyway, so the stand is less of a concern for me, but for others, beware.

Terrible
I never write reviews but felt like I had to for this product, because I'm shocked that the current reviews are mostly positive. There are two issues: 1: The 'adjustable stand' is defective. The light panel weighs too much for the stand, so it will not stay in the position you choose, instead always sliding down to a lower position. 2: It has a terrible, plastic, toxic smell to it. This is especially noticeable when sitting close to it, as you're supposed to do, but it is strong enough that it will stink up whatever room it is sitting in almost unbearably. I don't know but would assume that this is VOC off gassing, and thus not just an annoyance but a potential health risk. I've given this 3 days hoping the smell would diminish, but it hasn't at all, and I have now packed up the item for return because I can't stand it any more. You can find other people with these issues if you search around a bit, so I don't think I simply received a defective unit. I would guess they cut corners on the manufacturing to an extreme degree, despite the high price of this product.

I received this therapy lamp from Amazon a couple days ago. The item was well packed. Assembly is easy. Just 6 screws with an included screw driver. The power button and settings buttons are soft touch and intuitive to use. The build is solid and design really nice and really puts out 4 light levels. I look forward to using this lamp in the winter months as I suffer every year from seasonal affective disorder. I guess you could use this also as a general purpose lamp as well.

Though it is relatively more expensive than a ipad-like happy light, this product is great- the size is big enough to generate good quality of bright and white light for me to go through the winter in East Coast of Canada!!

Excellent sun lamp and really does the job. I have used small sun lamps to no avail. They just weren't big enough to deliver enough therapeutic light unless they were uncomfortably close to my face. I have this one on a stand next to an armchair. I'm able to angle it down so I get the the light at the right angle for my eyes. I use it each morning when I'm doing my Bible reading, so it's easy to incorporate into my day. It has made so much difference. I live in a Northern climate and it's dark at 3:30 or 4pm right now. This lamp helps me feel more energy during the Fall/winter, helps my mood, and especially has helped me sleep better. Usually this time of year my circadian rhythm gets messed up and I don't get quality sleep...the other lamps haven't helped with that but this one has. The other benefit is that unlike other ones I've tried this one doesn't give me headaches. Be sure to use it early enough in the day, preferably within 30 minutes of waking and don't use it for more than 30 minutes.

So, I took the plunge on the Carex Day-Light Elite Bright Light Therapy Lamp after seeing it featured in Bryan Johnson’s morning Blueprint routine. If it’s good enough for him, I figured, why not me? Here’s the breakdown after using it: Rock-solid build quality: The lamp feels solid. The base is sturdy, it adjusts without wobbling, and honestly, it’s not even close to cheap-feeling, almost seems like it is medical grade. Top-tier light delivery: With 10,000 lux at around 12 inches, this thing means business. It’s clinically calibrated and packs a punch that your winter doldrums won’t stand a chance against Worth the splurge, but not cheap: Price is up there. Definitely a high-end pick. But given the craftsmanship and results, I can confidently say it's worth the investment. Bryan Johnson's endorsement carries serious street cred in longevity and wellness circles it’s like having the seal of a biohacking wizard on this lamp. If waking up energized is your jam, this should be on your radar.

Bonne lampe avec écran assez large pour donner de la luminosité à distance. Diminue l'impression de fatigue lors des longues journées d'hiver peu ensoleillée. Très pratique pour l'étude.
