The best Achilles brace for running
I had the earlier version of achillotrain, prescribed by my podiatrist, which I used for a few years. Eventually it seemed it was probably stretching out and I should get a new one. The new model has improved gel padding, and is taller. It also keeps the optional heel lift separate, instead of in a pocket (where it was difficult to insert), so it’s easier to switch between using the lift and not. I have a Haglund’s deformity which causes Achilles tendinosis, and this brace allows me to continue running. Its easy to get on and off, and keeps my Achilles tendon in place and improves circulation in the area.

Very high quality and very comfortable
I wear a size 11 shoe and according to my ankle measurements needed a size 3. It seems to be just about right. Getting it on and off is no big deal, and the Bauerfeind videos intended for medical professionals seem to indicate that this is correct (i.e., it's not supposed to be extremely tight). It is certainly a high-quality product - no question about that. I am in week 13 of recovery from Achilles surgery, and this brace over a compression sock makes for a nice security blanket. I'm not sure it's a major improvement over the $25 brace I had previously, but I do have the comfort of knowing it's state-of-the-art and as high-quality as it could be.

Didn’t work for me
I had high hopes for this, but didn’t work for me. Stopped using the brace. I use heel raises though.

Use only with professional advice
Having a bone spur on my heel, this brace does decrease the pain while walking. My only problem is that I have a difficult time taking it off by myself. Going on is fine, but off is a bit painful.

It worked for me
I don't usually leave reviews. But when a product has proven to be this good, I have a duty to share. The achilles tendon on my right foot started swelling and caused me a lot of pain this past July. Im a nurse and a BSMT. I did all the "things". RICE, Voltaren gel, heel inserts, and several different types of compression socks. Nothing worked. I found this last week and gave it a try. Within 3 days, I am walking pain free. Ecstatic doesn't begin to describe my satisfaction with the Achillotrain device. Now Ive ordered the lower back device for my mother. If its half as good as the Achillotrain, its worth every penny.

Wow - at last something that really really helped
Perfect choice for me. I've tried everything, PT, stretching, rest, Ice, NSAIDs since one overuse event resulted in severe tendinopathy 5 months ago. Read every research paper I could find. I knew regular compression sleeves didn't help and the brace with the air bladders at the ankle put way too much pressure on it. So far, I've worn it all day twice and every time the next day, the pain is considerably less. And -- I love the donning aid - a little silk sock, first compression/brace device I've every had that included one and man how much easier it is to put on. Yes it was the most expensive brace on Amazon but it was worth it!!
