Tapo TP-Link C500 Outdoor Wi-Fi Security Camera, 360° FHD 1080P with Night Vision, Two-Way Audio, Cloud Video Recording, Works with Alexa

I love Tapo cameras. This is my second one as the first one was so simple to install and connect, the app allows you to have up to 36 cameras to be connected to the same device. The video quality is amazing for the price of the camera. I like all the different setting on the camera so you can focus in exactly where you want the camera to pick up any movement. You can also turn on function like person detection, Line crossed detection, camera tampering, you can also turn on a alarm which is great if you see someone on your property. The night vision is great (tip, if you are using the camera pointing out of a window turn off the night mode and then the camera will be able to see out of the glass) I like the LED functioning lights so you and others know that the camera is working. Even though the camera is not the smallest people do not notice it, so its good that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb on your property. Another tip - purchase a good quality Micro SD card as the cheap ones can sometimes cause problems with the camera unable to record. The Tapo app is so easy to use which is a big sell to me as I want to be able to see quickly what is going on outside. Ill defiantly be buying more Tapo cameras in the future.

The Tapo C560WS is another outstanding addition to my Tapo camera setup — I now have several, and this one truly stands out for outdoor use. The 4K 8MP video quality is incredible, producing sharp, detailed footage both day and night. The starlight sensor delivers clear colour images even in low light, which is a huge improvement over standard night vision. Setup was quick and simple, and it integrated perfectly with my existing Tapo system and Hikvision NAS. The connection is stable, the app is easy to use, and motion detection is accurate without too many false alerts. The local facial recognition is a brilliant touch — it’s fast and reliable, adding an extra layer of smart security. The camera itself feels solid and well built, clearly designed to withstand outdoor conditions. It pans and tilts smoothly, covering a wide area with no blind spots. I also love that it supports local storage, so there’s no need for a subscription unless you want cloud backup. Overall, it’s a powerful, professional-grade camera at a fantastic price. Superb image quality, smooth integration, and reliable performance – another excellent Tapo product I highly recommend!

Great, much improved over previous versions. What to know. Install at a decent spot, to make use of the auto tracking if you need to. Get a power extension cable as you'll probably need it. It's a 9v system, like the other Tapo cameras, annoyingly. There is no PoE option for this camera, again, that's quite annoying. Picture quality, excellent, it has white light LEDs for night time, but they have an auto time out of 5 mins. Audio, good, but depends on your network connection, if you get connection drop, the audio and picture will of course suffer. Mounting is easy, 2 screws, there's a template inside too. Micro SD card, well, interesting. As this is the first outdoor camera that I have from Tapo that doesn't use screws to secure the flap. Which, given it was easy to strip the head off the C310 series, makes sense, plus it's on the moving part, so a rubber flap should be ok. However, mine decided to be 'not recognised' randomly, no idea why. The fix was to remove it, blow the inside out, wipe the micro sd terminals and remount. (I had a new micro sd card on standby also) and it worked ! Motion detection - yes, but moving plants and trees will set it off, and the AI is still learning, so shadows will be called 'People' at times. It does detect Vehicles, Movement, and Pets, so if you are looking for a particular event type, this can help. Would I buy again or recommend to others ? Yes. It's cheap, no subscription or hub needed, sure there are better options that cost a LOT more, and some rather crappy lesser ones, such as Blink, which doesn't give you 24/7 record option, so missed things. I've got 1 more to set up, and an older C310 (fixed type, no AI etc), but has directional line crossing and intrusion features that work well.

These are very good and superb value though it must be noted they need a direct 9 volt power supply, they are not battery powered. The clever bracket allows several mounting options and there is no need for subscriptions as they record to a micro sd card and the recordings can be viewed and downloaded via the app. - there is also a live view option with record and snap shot functions.. Night vision is good and can be enhanced with a switchable light and the camera can be set to track the movement detected. The only little gripe is that the app does not allow individual notification sounds to be assigned to each unit. I bought the first one last September for the front and a second one in March for the back of the house and am delighted with them

I have been using the Tapo C510W for more than a year now, and it is perfect for outdoor security. The 2K video clarity is excellent, and it is highly accurate at tracking movement even in absolute darkness. One massive plus is the local storage efficiency; by setting it to record only when movement is detected, I can easily store about 3 months of data on a single 128GB memory card, completely avoiding monthly subscription fees. The only slight issue I’ve noticed with the smart tracking is a small blind spot: if someone passes directly underneath the camera, the tracking cuts out and doesn't carry on following them. However, as long as the movement is a little bit away from the camera, the tracking works perfectly and smoothly. Overall, after a full year in the elements, it’s a brilliant, reliable camera!

First I have to say this is the 4th TAPO camera I bought, and for a reason. I also have TC70 and C310P2 x 2 outdoor cameras. On a budget, you get very very good software, solid quality and amazing functionality. GOOD STUFF: 1. Super easy and straight forward setup. Never had an issue with this with any of the cameras from Tapo - works like clockwork. 2. Great Picture quality both day & night time. For day time you'd probably expect nowadays, but night time is really amazing. Colour night vision with 360 degree horizontal and 130 degree vertical cover. 3. Amazing and precise movement & person detection, as well as activity zones and line crossing detection. Also, there is a motion tracing option so if needed - the tracking object won't be lost out of the view. 4. Great & quick notifications including reach notifications, so you can receive not just a message but also a snapshot of person/object or action captured. 5. Great functionality and customisation in general, including: Privacy Zones & Privacy Mode, scheduling, smart actions like on/off depending if you're home, patrol mode, etc. 6. Of course it's waterproof, with IP65 rating - just be sure to install it correctly, not upside down! 7. Great customisable alarm functionality where you can adjust both sounds & light alarm. Yes, it won't wake the whole street up, but it is loud enough for a device of this size. You can even record your own voice with spicy insults to make sure no thief remains indifferent. So even if they steal - their ego will be forever damaged. 8. In terms of storage - if you need to store the recordings you can use an SD card and store for free or you have an option to subscribe and store in the cloud. It's not super expensive in this regard comparing with some other mainstream brands. 9. Great software in general that lets you build or / and unify different Tapo devices for a smart home setup. CONS / TO NOTE: - I've got good connectivity, but want to note I have a strong router. Generally any camera or wireless device will depend a lot on the router and positioning, especially considering that it hangs outside. You can test yours before hanging, especially if your setup or plan allows options. Overall, that's a quality product. Recommend & picky engineer approved.
