Large quantity and great for seedlings.
This is great for starting seeds! I had five seed trays and only used half of this to fill them. After following instructions, adding water, it doubled in size.

Seems like coco coir to me but maybe is special?
Seems like coco coir, I'm not sure how to measure the nutrient content or dust content, but it didn't seem "dusty" to me. It retains moisture very well and some of my seeds came up in days. I used the 5-pack of 3x4 cells with moisture-retaining hoods. How do you measure how durability it is? I don't know. The size is compressed, so it grows a lot, like me when the college jogging team comes by. I'm sure it has nutrients.

Excellent seeds starting soil. A repeat buy for me.
A very nice soil that is rather fine. It's excellent for starting seeds and nurturing young seedlings. Highly recommend.

100% germination!
UPDATE: while seeds germinated faster with this mix, the seeds planted in MiracleGro seed starting mix did all eventually germinate and in fact are now looking much more healthy than the Back to Roots mix. Top 2 rows in second photo are in miracle gro mix, bottom 2 rows in back to roots mixture. Iโm changing from 5-stars to 4 only because I think the miraclegro seed starting mix is out performing Original review: 100% germination of tomato seeds with this mix vs about 65% germination with Miracle Gro brand seed starting mix in same environment. Used covered tray with grow lights, warming pad and โCow Potsโ 3โ pots.

Back to The Roots Organic Seed Starting - Easy to Use
This Back to The Roots Organic Seed Starter is really easy to use and a good value. It retains moisture well and expands to fill several pots (12 quarts). It has good consistency and some of the seedlings appear to be starting to sprout. A good value for a nice-sized block of compressed starter, I would purchase this product again; five stars from me.

Not Great For Seedlings
I typically like Back to the Roots' products, but this one is a huge pass from me. I started my first tray of seedlings in this mix and a second tray with another mix - both were otherwise kept in the same growing conditions in a controlled environment. I'm giving 3 stars only because, technically, most everything germinated. However, this mix had so many huge chunks in it and most of the seedlings suffered from damping off (I actually grew a mushroom in one cell) or just plain struggled beyond the initial germination. They were not overwatered, and were actually bottom watered. This may be fine as a potting mix, but for seedlings vulnerable to mold/fungus (they're not so vulnerable once a bit bigger) I'm sticking to something that is more sterile.

Good quality - recommend
Very helpful to have the Coconut Coir in a bag that doubles as a bucket. Good quality product.
