This is a really nice rod, and I really like the "lever-action" for adjusting rod height. Makes tightening the rod idiot-proof, as you can't over-tighten it unless you mess with the adjusting screw. We have had a lot of inexperienced rod men over-tighten the knobs on similar models and damage the rubber bushings that hold the rod tight. A similar rod at my local survey supply store would run at least double what this cost! The reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is that I don't like the design of the leveling bubble. It sits on a small metal ball, and all the screws have to be tight or else the bubble is loose and ineffective. This makes it quite difficult to adjust. I think most other bubbles have a layer of rubber under the bubble that can be compressed, which makes adjustments much easier. However, I think that with some home modifications, this issue could be resolved and still make the rod well worth the savings in cost! I'm going to try removing the metal ball and sticking a small rubber wall protector (the ones that stop your door knob from putting scratches/holes in your walls) underneath it.... Something like that should do the trick.

A great affordable survey pole
A great affordable survey pole. I bought a seco pole for $175 in April and then ordered this pole for my other crew. Turns out I like this one better and have decided to use it myself.

Mediocre but very useful.
It's only in metric, which is fine for me. Joints could be more clear in the marking, I had to measure to make sure where they should join to keep the height and make a mark. It's cheap and feels sturdy enough. Comes with a nice bag to carry around.

This product works very well using a transit to cut a fence line through the woods.
