Fabulous Figures (I Heart Drawing)

What a delightful and beautiful laid out book. Incredibly well set out with clear guidance and instructions to enable me to make and enjoy some fun with this style of art. Provided some brilliant stickers and drawing guides.

So much love and attention has gone into creating this book. From the quality of the paper and the detail of the content, through to the little envelope at the ba k of the book in which you can store the templates ans stickers that come with it. Just beautiful! When I ordered it, I didn't realise just how useful and and informative thud book would be. I'm trying to expand my creativity into illustration and the style of Jane's drawing inspired me, so I took a chance and bought the book. What a great decision that was! Even if the main style isn't for you, Jane introduces you to the proportions for drawing bodies. I own many, many books that aim to explain human anatomy, but none explain it so simply. You can literally start straight away. Buy this book. You will not be disappointed.

I have numerous art and craft books but felt compelled to rave about this one . Usually I find that I may only use a few pages from a book but this is packed with ideas! It is beautifully presented and really does help you to improve your figure drawing . On other levels the use of colour and pattern is very inspiring. For anyone who loves drawing and journaling this is a must .

Really enjoying exploring figures with this book. Love the system posited by Jane, it does make figure proportions easier. There are some great exercises to follow along and it should be possible to use these as a steppingstone towards my own style.

Well set out and easy to follow

I’m yet to use it to the fullest but it did gave me lot of useful tips to improve my silhouette drawings.

I had put my name down for a drawing course in the new year - this book was purchased instead of. Stunning drawings, colours and well written. Once I have worked through this I will certainly be trying one of her other books.

This is an excellent book. Purchased for my daughter who has already created beautiful works from it. Well laid out and fun to read and try.

I have Jane’s other book on Faces which is also wonderful. But this book is really special in several ways. First the cover and binding are flexible but heavy enough to be sturdy, and oh so very Jane, with such lovely colors and beautiful art. The feel is like slick magazine paper but Heavenly heavier. She has so many lovely examples to see, I think I counted about 25 in full color and full page, I’m tempted to cut up the book and frame them. But I could NEVER do that to Jane’s book! I have a problem with a mean inner Critic and Jane has such a way of talking me down off the ledge. Her system of hearts is very useful and helps to reduce the trauma of facing the empty page. Each chapter has lessons and marvelous tips and tricks on most every aspect of how to draw and color female figures. And she has some bonuses, like how to use watercolors that she calls waterdrawing. I could never figure out what the heck to do with water colors untill I read her instructions and then the lightbulb finally went off. Ok, now I get it. Already playing with the stickers and using and enjoying this really useful guidebook. Thanks Jane for holding my hand, I needed that! I am recovering from the trauma of formal art classes I took in college and finally getting to experience the fun I wanted from taking art in the first place. I admit that I am a bit lazy and unwilling to spend many hours on shading one drawing, with Jane’s help I get great results with the amount of effort I am willing to spend. I think that is the best of all worlds. I would say go for it, you will really enjoy this FAB art book.
