Welding up to this point has not really been a consideration simply because I have not had a need and had not made investment in tools. Recently I have had the need to try to repair an ornate french style metal chair, which has developed few breaks of joints, I didn't want to invest in a larger machine from a point of storage and also only occasional usage. This is a small solid lighter portable mains operated welder which for me as a starter is ideal and comes with a sturdy top mounted carry handle. Controls are simple with rear power switch an LED display as well as a single knob to dial the current flow. This is capable of both Arc and TIG welding although the TIG torch is not provided, so I am only using this in an ARC welding capacity. Comes with the two cables (earth and electrode holder) as well as 5 welding rods to help get you up and running out the box. The results are good for me as a novice welder and with experience the quality of my work will improve. Overall good well priced starter ARC welding setup which is simple to operate and quick to get up and running.
