I bought a jug of this oil to do an oil change on the ol' whip. I had a little bit left over and just kept it in the garage. A few days later my Uncle showed up at my house and said he got a new slip n slide and we should give it a whirl in my front yard. It sounded like fun but my Uncle is known around town for having a bit of a meth problem so I knew this may be a bad idea. Unfortunately money has been a little tight with all this Rona business and my water may or may not have been shut off last week. Since we didn't have any water I suggested we lube that new slide up with some of the left over motor oil. BAD IDEA. I took the first run at the new slip and slide and went clear off the end and ended up with a rock playing peekaboo with my boom boom chute. I was walking a bit gingerly and we decide to pack it up for the day. You ain't never seen a grown man cry like one who just took a lump of old concrete to the chocolate balloon knot. I didn't see my uncle for like a month after that. Turns out he stole the slip n slide from some people on the other side of town and they caught him on camera naked rolling it up on their front lawn. He's out on bail and I still can't look him in the eye. Those tears were real and so are the memories.

If you plan ahead to complete an oil change you can save money by purchasing ahead of time when things are on sale.

As a Factory Certified Toyota Technician I always recommend Valvoline if the vehicle manufacturer calls for conventional (non-synthetic) motor oil. If the vehicle calls for synthetic I typically recommend Mobil1. IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT SECOND GUESS THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATION FOR FLUID TYPES AND WEIGHTS - Check your owner's manual for fluid type specifications - Should be under maintenance. YOU WILL NOT OUTSMART MILLIONS IN RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT BY GUESSING or BY USING FANCY OILS. That being said, Valvoline is the factory fill oil for Toyota vehicles. Most Toyota dealerships also use Valvoline. If it's good enough for Toyota and her affiliates, it's good enough for me. I have been using Valvoline conventional oil in all of my vehicles for the last twenty years. When I remove the valve cover from my car to do the timing belt every 90K I find the camshaft and valve buckets in pristine condition. My car has 329k on it. I bought it with 50K and have used Valvoline since the very first oil change. People will swear by this brand or that one, usually 'cause dad said so, and with no real evidence of performance or longevity. This oil has stood the test of time for almost one million combined miles on this Certified Master Technician's personal vehicles. Funny that it is priced the same as much lower quality oils such as Penzoil and Quaker State. Valvoline for conventional and Mobil1 for synthetic. Using the vehicle manufacturer's specified weight and type, you can not go wrong with these two oils. Opinions and theories abound, but facts prove themselves.
