This book is insane. I mean that in the best possible way. Carl and Princess Donut are thrust into a deadly game show dungeon run by murderous alien AI, and the results are hilarious, brutal, and surprisingly heartwarming. The action is non-stop, the humor is dark and sarcastic, and the world-building is incredibly creative. If you like litRPG with a heavy dose of satire and a protagonist who's just trying to survive, this is a must-read. The audiobook version narrated by Jeff Hays will elevate the already fantastic story to another level. Hays' performance is a masterclass in voice acting, bringing Carl, Donut, and the whole cast of characters to life with distinct personalities and perfect comedic timing. He is Carl. Do yourself a favor and experience Dungeon Crawler Carl through his narration...you won't regret it!

Easily one of my favorite book series. Started listening to these books back on Audible and story between Carl & Donut is easily one of the craziest ones out there. It's funny, entertaining, and the content is easily written to be a fun book for adults without having to hard dive into smut to try and keep your attention. Between the floor's theme and the reveals of many race and class selections, you'll want to keep reading at times just to see who or what is coming up next, especially when they go to find Elle! Matt has easily written a series that you can sit down and read over and over and Jeff makes the audible version just as good to listen to over and over.

The story is great, the cover is fun, the binding is strong, and the print is very good.
