They definitely seem to work when we "tested" them at home with the controlled experiment my kids designed with a swift jab from the kids' toy doctor kit plastic syringe once with and once without the shot blocker. I nixed their next hypothesis that it would also help if they tried to jab me with a mechanical pencil, for science. So I stayed content knowing that the sensation of a plastic toy needle is different with the blocker than when it's not pressed on your skin. My kids have since used them for their flu shots and the first dose of their covid vaccines they still cried for the flu shot, but I didn't have to hold them still, and then they immediately agreed that it did actually help. They really liked that that were doing something to mitigate the pain instead of just being held down against their will. For the covid shots 4 weeks later, they were excited to bring them again and even took the responsibility of making sure they were packed in my persevere. Mine were the only 2 kids out of 7 at the clinic that didn't cry, BUT they did balk and go rigid & try to get away from the chair for a moment when the pharmacist first said his boss doesn't like him to use them because they can make blood shoot across the room when the needle is injected (? Plausible, I guess?), but when I pulled out just a little momma bear and assured him that our pediatrician OK'd them and that they'd successfully used them for shots at the pediatrician's without any spurting of blood he relented and let me hold them on the kids' arms. They took the shots like champs and didn't whimper, tear up, or anything. Even reported the next morning that peeling off the bandaids from their arms hurt more than actually getting the shot. TL;DR: they do have some effect on the sensations around the shot blocker, but it's unclear whether the actual pain reduction or the feeling of some control over the situation is what makes my kids like them. Either way, 10/10 recommend for kids who are strong willed and shot-averse.

These work great! My pediatrician’s office was so impressed they now have them in the office for all kids! My 4 year old happily declared after two shots “that didn’t hurt!”

This product worked really well. For all my 69 years, I've always shunned and avoided IM injections at all costs because of the pain during the injection and the pain that lasts days afterwards. This COVID pandemic convinced me that I needed to get the vaccine, so I bought the ShotBlocker and used it at the vaccination site. The nurse had no problem using it, and wow I was, and still am, very surprised at the results. There was absolutely no feeling of the needle going in, but I'd been warned about the thickness of the solution that will cause pain when injected. I did feel the nasty pain of the fluid going in, but the pressure provided by the nurse pressing the device against my arm kept me from tensing the muscle. Immediately afterwards, I couldn't tell I'd even gotten an injection. I was prepared to be a little sore today, but so far there is no soreness at all. I'm one of the happiest people on earth right now! Every health care provider should offer them to patients. I'm actually thinking of getting caught up on my inoculations because of this wonderful ShotBlocker. I can't believe I even said that! Now three weeks later, I was so confident in this product that I updated two vaccinations a couple of days ago. Absolutely no pain during the injections (Shingrix and Prevnar13) and no soreness of any kind afterwards. I am so happy that I've already scheduled the last of my long-overdue vaccinations (Shingrix #2 and Tdap) in two months. I'm actually excited about it! ShotBlocker is a life-changer for me! The key is to press it very hard into the skin while giving the injection. That's the key.

Used with my 4-year old for her latest vaccine. We had no tears at all, which was amazing (prior vaccine left her crying for probably 10 minutes). That said, it seemed almost like the use of this confused her, and by the time she processed the thing had still hurt it was like almost too late for tears. She did very disappointedly inform me afterwords that it still hurt. My worry about that though is that now that we've used it once, it wont work the same on a 2nd use, you know? I suppose I will update once we've used it again, if it works a 2nd time or not. But at the very least, any trip for a vaccination to be tear-less is amazing!

A friend gave me one to test, and let me tell you—HUGE DIFFERENCE! My 2-year-old son always cries and screams during his shots, which breaks my heart. So I gave this a try for his last shot, and he DID NOT CRY! Not even a little. I was in shock. I gave it 5 stars because the product is amazing, even though my order never arrived. Thankfully, they refunded me without any issues. I’m currently traveling, but when I get back, I’ll definitely buy it again. Hopefully, it arrives this time because I’ll be using it for all his shots. This mama is so happy!
