Exceptionally QUIET.
OVERALL: Very, very pleased and satisfied with the unit and its design. We will never again use a combined unit (blower and insert as a single unit). The thoughtfulness and effectiveness of a remotely mounted blower outside of the living space is brilliant (not really a new concept, but very nicely executed by Awoco).SYSTEM Notes: The design details for connection screws and fittings are extremely sturdy and well designed. Everything necessary for a simple installation is provided, and is of good quality materials. The noise level is SUPERBLY QUIET, so much so that you almost wonder if it's even running until you get to the two highest speed settings. On the highest speed setting, it is no problem at all having a face-to-face conversation right beside the unit at normal speaking volumes. WONDERFULLY surprised at this low noise levels! The unit does seem to exhaust the vapors adequately (thus far, after only one day of short-term operation), but I'm not so sure about the accuracy of the 1000 CFM rating, though, as the unit seems to not have as much suction power as expected for that level of air flow. Note that I used solid 8" ducting the entire path from the vent to the blower, and every joint is thoroughly sealed with metal duct tape to ensure no air leakage on the suction side. Also, I do not have excessive duct lengths as there is only 4 feet of length between the ventilation unit and the blower inlet port. The discharge of the blower has only one adjustable 90 directly to the 8" roof vent, so there are no restrictions on the blower discharge to generate any undue back pressure.Electrically, the wiring inside the ventilation unit is well-organized, cleanly secured, and effectively protected with an external sleeve on paired wiring runs between components. The use of clip connectors between components makes removal more manageable for cleaning events.BLOWER: As mentioned, very quiet, large, squirrel cage blower in a very heavy-duty housing which is solidly built and assembled. The wiring instructions are as simple as it gets - color-coded wiring connections which need no additional details. That said, including (or purchasing separately) a 5-conductor terminal connector (i.e. WAGO 221-415 lever nut connector) in the wiring box would be a justifiable upgrade for connecting the stranded wires between the blower and ventilation unit's control panel (the use of wire nuts is less than ideal for this application). The wiring cable between the control panel and the blower is nicely put together and is generous in length. From a mounting standpoint, be prepared to build a small 2x4 structure for the blower housing to sit on. In terms of vibration, there is ZERO VIBRATION - it is butter smooth when running!VENTILATION UNIT: The protective plastic film used on the three vent baffle components is a challenge to remove, and the baffle units really need to be taken apart for thorough film removal. Baffle removal is a very simple task for cleaning after use, but the edges of those components are a little sharp and could be better prepped for consumer safety to prevent cuts or scratches during cleaning. The lights have slightly lower lumens output than expected (in terms of actual brightness on the cooking surface), but is adequate and very comfortable without being either too dull or too bright. The lights being replaceable is a very nice feature for long-term utilization.

Good product
We have an island stove. The previous owners had installed a raise-up vent. It no longer worked but the Dacor stove works fine. We can't remove it to replace it. We have 9-10' ceilings. So my husband used the opening for the floursescent light that had been there and built a housing for the vent. We chose this one to fit into the housing. It's working great. Very quiet and if you put a piece of paper under it, it sucks the paper to the vent so it's nice and strong.

Great hood. Great value.
I thought it would pull harder and be a little quieter; however, it is the quietest stove hood I've ever seen in person and I did cook salmon on the griddle without the whole house smelling like fish so I'm very pleased! My reason for for stars is that it's a great hood insert and it's inexpensive for its quality and performance. It would have been five stars except that you practically have to completely disassemble it to install it. Running the duct (not included but offered by the manufacturer separately) isn't terribly difficult but can be frustrating for amateurs like me.

Very quiet- great suction
I ordered this insert for a hood range. Our HVAC guy hadn’t done a “motor in the attic” before but it turned out great. I’ve had several kitchen range hoods before and the volume is very loud and for the person cooking you don’t get to have conversations or hear people in the next room. This has very little noise (there is still some) but it’s mostly the sound of the air going into the unit. We did a suction test with a paper towel and it moves so much air. There is no audible difference between the different fan levels but it seems to be moving more air (again very quiet). I can have conversations with people in the next room over not feel like I’m standing next to a jet engine. Cannot recommend this fan enough and I’ve only had it installed for a month. The lights are great (although I wish you could direct/angle them) but that’s a minor critique on design.

Quality
Having the blower located far away from the kitchen greatly reduces the noise. I went with 8” ducting for better airflow and this proved to be a good choice. On the highest setting the sound level is low enough to carry on normal conversations while standing next to the unit. Lower settings are virtually inaudible. I am thrilled with this unit and although the installation was challenging it was worth the extra effort. My daughter has smell issue so it was important for me to have the ability to clear out cooking smells effectively. The unit itself has worked perfectly for the last 9 months running darn near constantly with no problems. Even the light are still working. I would highly recommend this unit but I will say that minimizing the ducting curves is critical to better performance. I was able to find an 8” hole saw on Amazon to attach to my hammer drill that proved to be amazing through drywall and hardi-board siding. Anything that makes the job easier…

It’s every thing it say’s and more.
This is a great SS hood. I was packed well and is made even better. It’s not flimsy/ lite gauge SS. I can put into words just how well it’s made. I’ve been looking for a hood like this for five years. I would give up and in my travels see a brand I thought I would like just to be disappointed when I looked online. Awoco Split SS Range Hood is a great product at a Great Price. It looks like a hood you would have to pay more that thousand dollars for. Also it super quiet and has LED lighting. I just can’t say enough about this great product.
