Apple iPod Classic 160 GB Silver - 7th Generation

I purchased this iPod to replace one which has been in use for over four years. I estimate that the one being replaced has been in use for an average of about 5 hours per day for these four years and has finally given up the ghost. Perhaps Apple will repair it under their exchange scheme. The 160GB has always been put to good use but has never been filled. There are 27 full length films on it, used mainly during frequent flights to Europe, and about 30GB of music. Fabulous piece of kit. Best player out there. Additional information a couple of months after purchase:- The Apple store DO NOT repair/replace any items which have been out of production for six years or more. They do not state this on their website but give the impression that items will simply be "swapped out" rather than repaired but give no age limit. They offered me a 10% discount on a new iPod but this still made it more expensive than Amazon. Despite Apple's reluctance to keep to their repair scheme, I still think this is the best MP3 player about. The EU Volume Limit can be overcome as reported elsewhere in these reviews under "Settings" on the iPod itself.

This will be my third iPod and by far and away this is the best one. 160GB hard drive so I can store hundreds of albums. Far quicker to add files from iTunes and now it charges via the USB far quicker than my old iPod. Unfortunately you cannot buy this model from Apple so expect to pay around the £400 mark. If you don't want all the other apps which now come with the new family of iPods then this model is the only option. Apple are missing out big time by discontinuing this model. Apple are charging £250 quid for a 62GB iPod touch so at £400 for 160GB this is a bargain.

I'm sure this is probably a great product but don't buy from this seller because mine lasted five minutes. It just wouldn't work at all

I think this is a great bit of kit. As a vocal coach, I have a big collection of about 6000 songs I need to have at my fingertips and this has tonnes of room to spare with my full library loaded. My old 8gb iPod Nano just couldn't cope & meant I had to keep swapping and changing what I could squeeze on to it - Not any more! This is great. My only reason for giving it only four stars is that it has an Apple glitch that has cropped up in the first week. The PLAY function became unresponsive and having read online in a forum, it describes a way to unfreeze it - but could have done without the panic! It also happened at a really inconvenient time - half way through a rehearsal. But it did resolve the issue & it hasn't happened again. I wouldn't be without it!

Not sure how its refurbished, back is very scratched up. Not much of a problem I'm more concerned by the fact that I have not been able to restore it? Have goggled it and am in the process of trying to fix it. If the hard drive is damaged I will be sending it back. Keep getting error code 1436

Although I mourn the demise of the CD collection I find my iPod so handy. This was a replacement for my 10 year old iPod that finally ceased to be a few months ago. It was obsolete so I was unable to get it repaired. Not being able to change the battery is a big disadvantage as is the fact they create a new ipod so often. It kind of makes it a disposable item as you need to replace rather than repair. However, it does come with a far from disposable price tag. My biggest problem with the iPod (and hence only 4 stars) is that you have to use iTunes. I despise iTunes. It requires updating regularly. Unfortunately I have developed somewhat of an update fear, having had to reinstall my entire music collection, no less than 3 times. It wipes playlists and loses songs. So frustrating! The frequent changes also regularly come with changes to the format or layout of iTunes, so no sooner have you got used to the way it works it changes and you have to figure it out all over again. iTunes has an uninterrupted play function that illiminates gaps and gives the illusion of tracks mixing together, when played through your computer. It would be nice if the ipod was also able to do this too

Excellent Product which they've stopped making. Why??? It has a massive memory which is ideal for all your music. I purchased it as a gift and pondered on getting two, one for ourselves but regrettably I didn't. The Apple shop staff in Covent Garden told me they no longer have spares for any that become faulty, so take care of them those of you lucky enough to own one.

My first I pod! Chose this one as the memory is massive, and so, will last me years. I purposefully didn't want a smaller type, as I'd loose it. This is sturdy and heavy solid item, that I feel confident with. The cover flow system to view albums is brilliant and easy to use. Simple menus. Nice big screen compared to other pod's.I love it.

This is the second iPod of this model I have had, the previous one lasted six years until an untimely death by washing machine. Five days of portable music can only be good.

La capacidad de esta versión (160 gb) es lo que lo hace diferente a otro reproductor (incluso apple). Estoy harto tanto en el móvil, como en otros reproductores a cambiar música (y quitar y poner) por no tener esa canción que quiero escuchar en el momento que quiero. Por tanto yo lo quería para llenarlo de música y olvidarme. Para eso es perfecto. Es verdad que también se puede utilizar como disco duro para otras utilidades (fotos, vídeos). La calidad y el funcionamiento no hay nada que decir es apple. Funciona con menús y aunque no sea táctil (hoy todo es táctil) la rueda es muy ágil para desplazarse. El sonido es muy bueno. Hoy en día lo practico es tenerlo todo en uno (internet, teléfono y aplicaciones). Pero con lo que duran las baterías yo necesito un buen reproductor de música con mucha capacidad y batería además de una calidad de sonido. Esto es lo que da este Ipod. No entiendo como lo dejan de fabricar.

Cosa dire di questo ipod? Per me è il vero,unico ipod! Non ho nulla contro il modello touch ma il fascino di questo modello e' imbattibile! Ottimo il venditore e il prezzo( attenzione però: io l'ho acquistato prima che la apple lo mettesse fuori store,perché subito dopo i prezzi sono schizzati alle stelle)

Es hat mir gut gefallen, das es trotz wieder zurücksenden an den Verkäufer (durch Blödheit des Fahrers (DHL)), alles wunderbar funktioniert hat. Zu meinem runden Geburtstag war der iPod da! Ich habe mich sehr gefreut. Ein Anruf beim Verkäufer hat dazu geführt das ich mir ein wunderbares eigenes Geschenk machen konnte!!! *****

Es genial, Ahora llevo todas mis canciones favoritas siempre encima. Lo conecto al equipo hifi y tengo mi música en casa, lo conecto al radio-cd-usb del coche y tengo toda mi música en el coche me voy a pasear y tengo toda mi música conmigo. Actualmente llevo unos 7000 canciones y apenas ocupan 40Gb. Lo mejor de todo es el no tener que preocuparte por nada ni por la batería que dura una pasada ni por la capacidad. Llevo casi un año con el y nunca se me ha quedado sin batería. Con 36 horas de autonomía entre medias siempre lo acabo conectando para meter música nueva o para actualizar mis listas o lo conecto al coche. Y la capacidad ¡Oh bendita capacidad!!! Que tengo música nueva pues conecto y sincronizo no me tengo que preocupar de ¿Y ahora que saco para meter esto nuevo??? En Resumen UNA PASADA!!! Qué pena que ya lo hayan descatalogado!
