Any advice?** A: I use the knife for whittling walking poles, and so it is important to me that it locks solidly in use. Like you, I initially found the blade hard to close, but there is a definite knack. Looking at the knife with the blade open and to the right, you will see text saying "PRESS TO CLOSE", and where the CLOSE is situated there is a dip in the case. Holding the handle of the knife in the left hand, press on the steel flange within the dip, away from you. (If you look at the knife from above whilst doing this, you will see the flange move out of the way of the base of the blade, freeing it to be closed). With the right hand, gently and carefully push the blade up from below for about 2cm. The handle-end of the blade then traps the flange in the appropriate position so that the rest of the blade closure is easy.Hope this makes sense, and that it works for you.If it doesn't work, then I recommend that you contact the supplier and ask them to replace your knife, citing the above notes and stating that this doesn't happen with your knife.John **Q: Is this knife suitable for wood whittling/carving?** A: I haven't donw much whittling but it locks well; safe and securely.
