Dispel all doubt - it works!!!
Had my doubts but went ahead and got it... plugged in the VCR and went to try to record something using VLC Media Player... nuts, problems... out of sync like crazy... "oh no, this is worthless" I thought. But then I said "wait, what is that software they mentioned...OBS something?"... well, found a free download and all issues instantly resolved using OBS Studio . I am now nearly done digitizing a very large collection of videos (all day long for four days and the only issue I have had is the quality of a few of the tapes, ha). So yeah, if, like me, your concern is "will something this cheap and easy work" the answer is "yep!".

Good capture card.
It works exactly as it’s supposed to. I was able to connect a 30 year old VCR to Mac using this capture card, and it worked flawlessly.
