I always kept a pack of these with me but had never actually used one. I didn't want to break the bead of the tire because I wasnt sure that it would seal up again. I pulled the failed stem out of the wheel with pliers. This valve easily presses into the wheel from the outside. You hold the stem with a wrench while tightening the stem nut with another wrench and in less than a minute, it was ready for air. I aired up and checked for leaks; there were none. It's not just a Band-Aid, these can be left in permanently, so it has been three months and I haven't had any problems. These days, I am thrilled when something works as advertised. I purchased more to put in each of my cars and trucks. What a life saver!

**Q: What is the total length of the valve stem and the length from the rim to the end of the valve cap threads after installation?**
A: On my side by side the total length is about 3/4"

**Q: When using this as a permanent stem, do I need to worry about the old broken rubber piece still inside the tire? This is my only concern.**
A: No a couple of grams of rubber rolling around in there will not hurt anything.

**Q: Are these compatible with an ARB rapid deflate tool?**
A: I don’t know if they allow rapid deflate.  The stems are only used for an emergency valve stem replacement until a regular stem can be installed.

**Q: Will beet juice (rim guard) affect the rubber on these valves?**
A: I have used it on 3 differt tpye of rims. If you have clear access to get the new stem in and a socked on it it will work
