Joy Xtra Digital Version

I gave a Cricut Joy but wanted the Xtra so I could make bigger projects. Love it

If you’re looking into crafting with Cricut, this is your gateway to the wonderful world of arts and crafts. Very easy to use and Cricut makes it easy to get started. Instead of going into it with a much priced cutter, purchase the Joy Xtra and see how it goes. If you grow out of it, then upgrade to a bigger faster machine.

I resisted buying this machine, since I have the original Cricut Maker, and didn’t really “need” this, per se. However, I was attending a crafting group session and didn’t want to lug around my huge machine. Enter the Joy Xtra. I love it! It does most of what my big machine does in a smaller package. I chose this one over the Joy because of the added features - print then cut, scoring, etc. (I bought this before the Joy 2 came out). I also enjoy the wider base - this fits a standard 8.5x11 piece of paper, offering more versatility than the 6” base size of the Joy. I think this is the perfect mix of portability and utility.

There is no joy with this item. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!! I've received nonstop errors and other than one initial test print on the vinyl included in the kit. I have been unable tp print anything using the smart gold heat transfer vinyl. Nonstop detection failures. I even tried placing the smart vinyl on a cutting mat and cleaned the sensor and I still get the detection failure. I've spent two days trying to get this thing to cut a design and it's pointless, fruitless, and frankly incredibly irritating. I can't return it since it's out of the 30 day window. I will say to avoid this model like the plague. Also the Terms of service actually violate any images you use (that are copyrighted and you purchased to use) because Cricut says anything you upload is now their intellectual property. So I wouldn't upload ANYTHING that you personally designed. Otherwise you've agreed its their's too. Buy a different cutter.

This is my first cricut. There is a definitely a learning curve. I like to think I am pretty quick learner but this has taken a bit to get used to. I wish the instructions were more clear. Especially when it comes to what each vinyl sheet does

I went back and forth for a long time deciding which Cricut to buy, and I’m really glad I chose the Joy Xtra. It’s perfect for someone like me who mainly makes cards, tags, and small paper projects. It’s easy to use, compact, and does exactly what I need without being overwhelming. I also use ChatGPT to help break down steps and directions when projects feel confusing or overwhelming, which has made crafting much more enjoyable and stress-free. This combination has worked really well for me.
