I purchased this Magnesium Chloride for its benefits. I have been taking it for 2 weeks now and it seems to help me sleep a little better. Also, I haven't had leg cramps lately. The tablets are big and not easy to swallow. The taste is not pleasant, so make sure you have a full glass of water on hand.

Normally tablets in the magnesium chloride form should be kept in the original bottle until you pull them out and take them right away. Do not put them in your pill box until later in the day as they will disintegrate. Normally I would only use the product then when I wake up or go to sleep which is a bit less convenient but works. Unfortunately, this specific product not only disintegrates exposed to air normally if removed from the bottle and left out, but this one also disintegrates in the bottle itself once the package was opened once and remained closed otherwise. They either need to add something to remove the moisture in the bottle, or use a bottle designed for this purpose. Alta brand did not disintegrate remaining inside the bottle in this same room temperature just last month, only when removed from the bottle for awhile exposed to air for many hours. So unfotunately, this one is pretty much not usable due to the disintegrating tablets within the bottle itself. I would normally ask for a refund or a replacement if they fix the issue. I opened the second bottle once, put in inside a dark cabinet, and did not open it again, then it too had disintegrating tablets on the top. Chloride is essential to energy production in the body. On a blood test, the optimal range for chloride is 100-106 mEq/L. The Na-K-Cl (Sodium, Potassium, Chloride) system moves sodium, potassium, and chloride ions across the cell membrane barrier into the cell. The number of chloride ions moved equals the sum of the number of sodium and potassium ions, in other words the ratio of ions moved is 1 Sodium:1 Potassium: 2 Chloride. What this means is that you need chloride too, and one good way to get some is to take some of your daily magnesium supplement in the chloride form. Chloride is also part of salt such as healthy pink himalayan salt but that will increase your sodium as well. Each tablet here is around 62mg elemental magnesium plus chloride, 3 is 186mg elemental magnesium. While there is magnesium chloride oil for absorption through the skin for those that have gut issues, this is in a tablet form. This form also helps with fibromyalgia type pain. A better choice for the chloride form if you need some other then the tablets from alta would be ancient minerals oil which is applied to your body which also bypasses the issues with gut absorbtion, there arent too many options for magnesium chloride, and no tablet forms without fillers that I have found. I put these tablets in my daily pill boxes (each day gets its pill set, usually done for a week at a time). Here in humid west Oregon and in our kitchen these tablets became soft, moist and crumbly; completely unusable in under 48 hours. The containers had not had any washing or water exposure, the other tablets in them were were fine. I think the salt nature of this uncoated tablet absorbs moisture from the air. I will have to use them directly from the original container but worry that by the time I open and close it 200 times the pills will will get soggy even in that container. I will not buy these again because where we live is humid must of the year. But reasonable to purchase if you live in the Atacama desert…….
