Back to the Roots Self-Watering Terracotta Olla Pot (Pack of 3), 700mL Provides 1 Week of Precision Watering

So glad I got these. My cucumbers, and squash love the moist soil, and are growing well. It has been 95-100 degrees F, here and very windy. We are also in a drought. Using these olla pots keeps the ground moist, using less water, and no splashing dirt on the plants. I check the water level every couple of days, and top them off. The water lasts 3-4 days here.

This has held up great, suits my strawberries although I admit I still water them every few days. It retains water about 4 or 5 days before I have to refill. Burying it was a breeze, no assembly required or anything. I wish the cap was another color but I usually keep a little lantern on top of it so it doesn't matter.

I am new to vegetable gardening and someone told me that they saw these used by someone on youtube and that they highly recommended these…so I figured I would give them a try. When I got my package two of the three bottles had no rubber stopper. Needless to say I wasn’t very happy about that. I contacted the seller by email and they got back to me right away and went above and beyond replacing the missing stoppers. They gave me a set of 10 plus threw in two packs of flower seeds and I received them within 2 days! The product is well made and nicely packaged. I just put them in today so I can’t remark on how they work because I would need more time for that. That is the only reason that I left one star off. They were easy to put in the dirt and are easy to fill with water and they all have stoppers on them. I am very pleased with these so far. This seller has awesome support!

I have purchased these ollas twice now. I absolutely love them! I was previously struggling to keep my balcony garden from completely drying out. Living in an apartment there was no easy way to water. Since setting these up, I can now go 3-4 days in between watering, even on the hottest days. I further extended that time to about a week and a half by simply “screwing in” some dark glass bottles with additional water on top. (Bottles are mountain valley spring water 33.8 fl oz for anyone interested in doing the same) adding these on has been a big help in gauging how much water is left. I know that if there is water still in the bottles then I am no where near needing to fill them up yet. I will continue to purchase these ollas if I decide to expand my balcony garden at all! They are just the right size for even some of my bigger grow bags. They are not flimsy at all. I love the way they look! Bonus points for their versatility since they can also support a bottle on top with a bit of finesse! The key is to make sure you’ve buried them deep enough, otherwise the water will disperse more quickly in the dry air.

I’ve been trying various watering systems. Really impressed with the olla irrigation system in my raised bed gardens (in my case Thirsty Earth), so liked the idea of these for places where I had individual flower pots. They are large so meant for tall/big containers. Midway through summer, refilling abt. every 3 days. My biggest problem is that I have to search for the cork because the plants above are thriving. Will be buying more.

Living in the south, I have an issue with humidity. When I water the veggies, it just makes everything worse. I found these little pots- just fill with water, they water from below. Roots have grown down instead of up and they are constantly watered. Cut my watering chore in half. My tomatoes are thriving. I bought one set, then bought 2 more. I have them in every raised garden bed. Highly recommend. You could even put a water bottle upside down on top to add extra water if you’re going to be gone an extended period.

These pots are made well, but we live in SLC (dry, windy desert) and the water evaporates within a day or two. We bought 27 of them (6 in each of our raised beds, 2 in our smaller square beds and 2 in our raspberry/blackberry beds) hoping that it would provide enough water to not have to water for days to a week like the package implies. I know it all depends on where you live, amount of sun/shade, soil health, spacing, wind, etc, but these are NOT a replacement for drip irrigation. They seem simply supplemental for our situation. Knocking stars off just because the packaging shouldn't say an estimated amount of time to keep your plants watered, it's a bit misleading. Otherwise, they came packaged well, no cracks or broken pieces, I like the rubber stoppers, good concept, easy to use.

I bought these in desperation to keep my pot plants alive!! I love them! I know my plants are watered all the time, I don’t have to remember every single day! They work a treat!!
