Apple EarPods (USB-C) Review
At this point, most people already know what Apple EarPods are and what they do. But if you need a little reassurance before buying a pair, they remain one of the best budget-friendly wired earbuds available. The universal, one-size-fits-all design is simple and comfortable for many users, and the wired connection means zero lag—perfect for everyday use. The microphone is also one of the standout features, delivering excellent voice quality for phone calls, FaceTime, Discord, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and more. Listening through a wired connection also offers a reliable, consistent audio experience. With the USB-C version, the earbuds include a built-in DAC, allowing compatible devices to take advantage of high-quality digital audio, including lossless playback. This makes them an especially good option for Apple Music users who want clear, detailed sound without spending a lot of money. If you’re on a budget, these are an easy recommendation. The USB-C version works with Apple devices equipped with a USB-C port, while the 3.5mm version remains a great option for older devices and other hardware that still uses a headphone jack. Bottom line: If you want affordable, reliable wired earbuds with a great microphone, zero wireless latency, and solid audio quality, Apple EarPods are still hard to beat.

Well worth it - even if they don't last forever
Worked great. Unfortunately, only for 9 months. Not sure if I did something to damage the mic, but the ability to pause and restart whatever I'm listening to suddenly failed after only 9 months. Otherwise, I love these and would rate the quality as high. I use them a lot and just ordered new ones. Worth the money! (And so much safer than my AirPods, which I do *not* want to wear while walking around outside. Too easy to lose and badly damage those expensive puppies!) Great comfort, cord length and connectivity overall!

Reliable, high-quality audio without the Bluetooth hassle!
I had to get a new phone recently, which meant I couldn't use my old Lightning headphones anymore and needed to switch to USB-C. I really didn't want to go with Bluetooth wireless earbuds because I prefer to avoid the extra radiation and I honestly just hate having to charge yet another device. These Apple USB-C EarPods turned out to be a great choice. The cable quality is really good, and after using them every single day for many months now, the connection is still solid with no problems at all. The sound quality for my music is surprisingly good, too. You just plug them in and they work every single time. If you want reliable, great sounding headphones, don't want to deal with wireless connections, and love the idea of never having to charge them, I definitely recommend giving these a try.

Simple, convenient, and no charging needed!
I love these headphones because I don’t have to worry about charging them or stress about carrying around an expensive pair of headphones that I might lose. They’re affordable enough that if I ever lose them, I can just replace them without feeling too bad about it. They’re also very portable I can just throw them in my bag, plug them in whenever I need them, and they’re ready to use. My only small issue is that the wire can get tangled, but that’s pretty normal with wired headphones. Overall, the audio quality is very good, they’re convenient, and I definitely recommend them!

The $9 Audiophile Secret: Small Dongle, Big Practicality
Let’s be honest: nobody actually wants to live the "dongle life." When the headphone jack started disappearing from our devices, most of us were annoyed at the thought of yet another accessory to lose. But after spending a significant amount of time with the Apple USB-C to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter, I’ve realized it’s less of an annoyance and more of a practical hero in my daily toolkit. Whether I’m grading student dissertations or jumping between devices for lectures, this little white cable has become surprisingly indispensable. The "Hidden" Audio Quality As someone who appreciates high-fidelity gear, I was skeptical. I’ve used high-end headphones from brands like Beyerdynamic and Audio-Technica, and usually, you’d expect a $9 adapter to muddy the sound. Consumer feedback often points this out, but the reality is a pleasant surprise: this isn't just a physical adapter; it’s a tiny, highly efficient Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). In the audiophile community, this dongle is actually legendary for its transparency. It has an incredibly low output impedance, which means if you’re like me and enjoy using sensitive in-ear monitors (IEMs), you won’t hear that annoying background hiss that plagues cheaper adapters. The sound is neutral and clean—it doesn't try to "color" the music, which is exactly what I want when I’m focusing on work. Practicality in the Academic World On the practical side, this adapter is a lifesaver for remote work and teaching. I often find myself conducting Zoom sessions or recording feedback for my students from my iPad. While Bluetooth headphones are convenient, they occasionally lag or run out of battery at the worst possible moment. This adapter allows me to plug in my reliable wired headsets with built-in microphones. Consumer reviews consistently mention that the mic support is excellent—clear, crisp, and far more reliable than a spotty wireless connection. I can confirm that my voice comes through loud and clear during lectures, which is vital when you're explaining complex curriculum instructions. One Dongle to Rule Them All One of the best practical features is its versatility. I’ve tested it across my iPad Pro, my iPhone, and even my Windows laptop. It’s truly "plug and play." Windows recognizes it instantly as a sound card, and it even supports in-line remote controls (volume up/down and play/pause). I’ve also noticed that it doesn't drain the device's battery significantly, which is a common complaint with some third-party DACs. The One Caveat: Durability If there’s one "practical" warning I’d give based on my experience and many other users’ feedback, it’s the build quality. The cable is thin—very thin. While its flexibility makes it easy to tuck into a pocket, it doesn't feel like it can survive a lot of rough handling. I’ve learned to be gentle with it, especially where the wire meets the USB-C housing. Final Verdict For the price of a couple of coffees, you’re getting a high-quality audio converter that works across almost every modern device. It’s perfect for the "individual" hobbyist who values a clean, technical setup without the clutter. If you still have a pair of favorite wired headphones and haven’t made the jump to USB-C yet, just buy two—one for your desk and one for your bag. You won't regret it.

Very Reliable
Had these for I do not even know how long. I have done everything in them. Run in the rain, go to the gym, sleep, step on, literally everything, and they still hold up perfectly fine. Very reliable, worth the cheap cost. One downside is if you keep it in too long it will hurt your ear, but it is completely fine otherwise, would recommend.

Working well so far.
After acquiring a device with a C port, I needed new earphones to match. These were a touch pricey, in my opinion, but I'm hoping they'll last a long time. They're comfortable, work as intended, and provide a good sound quality. I keep them in a case to prevent the wires from tangling too badly, but even when they do, it's fairly easy to unravel the earphones. So far, so good!

Great Sound, Bad Durability
I love the wired Earpods by Apple, but I will be honest, these don't last the way they used to before Bluetooth Earpods took off. You used to be able to get a year out of wired headphones, but these are not made with the same quality. Here is my history of ordering these for my most recent phone: 1. May 28, '25 2. Dec 14 '25 (7 mo) 3. Apr 11 '26 (4 mo) 4. July 4, '26 (2 mo) 5. Oct 5, '26 (3 mo) Every single one had the same issue - one earbud stopped working, so something about the wiring is weak. At $20 a piece, I would have been able to afford wireless Apple Earbuds which would have lasted me way longer, however I like a wired option so I am not always at risk of losing an earbud somewhere or when I need to be on calls long enough that battery might be an issue. If these lasted longer than a handful of months it would be a 5-star purchase.

Best... BEST Budget wired USBC earbuds .
Apple EarPods (USB-C) Okay honestly for $24 these are the best sounding cost effective wired earbuds money can buy. Money can buy It's nothing fancy, no noise canceling, just an ear bud that fits into most people's ears comfortably, has a little volume up and down controlled at works even on an Android phone, and actually sounds fantastic for the price. It's still a great value and easily can recommend this as a backup to Bluetooth. There are lots of USBC wired earbuds out there for about the same amount of money... But these ones are hands down actually. Very good. Sound quality wise. The bass to treble is well balanced and seals right into your ears quite nicely. Honestly, I really can't complain Great value cost effective. Pretty good sound for the price. You really can't go wrong. If you're looking for a wired USBC backup for your Apple or even Android phone, you literally can't go wrong with these and I don't recommend looking for third-party cheaper no name brands because I've tried a dozen of those other brands and nothing compared to the sound quality that these offer. Hands down Update: Apple Earpods (3.5mm Headphone Plug) Got the 3.5mm plug version.. same fit as USBC one. Since it's an analog plug is specifically got it to plug right into xbox controller for online game chat. It's less weight on the head than any other headphon+boom mic gamer headphones. Actually sounds just great and mic works great with Xbox. I dislike having such a heavy sweaty headphone while playing games. These are awesome. They're deceptively great sounding compared to other wires earbuds. Fit nicely and don't hurt long term. I recommend these easily for gamers who like to chat whilst gaming.
