The same out-of-the box comfort you love from our original Moab hiking boot, re-invented for long days on duty. With a durable waterproof coated leather and mesh upper and our COMFORTBASE™ footbed and midsole offer all day comfort on the job. The Moab 3 Tactical boot is built for the toughest environments.

Review: Love them. - Fitment: As someone who struggles with footwear due to the shape and wideness of my feet, these boots are a solid win in my book. I was able to order them in my actual size, without having to go up. One minor issue: The model for these boots was likely a wide foot with a higher arch. I did find them to be a little too spacious, as I have lower arches, but, I solved this problem with some cheap Dr. Scholl's inserts. What (minor) slippage I had was resolved. Weight: The boots are light weight. They feel like sneakers. They are as light as the Salomon Quest 4D's but fit me much better. Lacing: The laces are good quality, no bunching or breaking. I would have preferred metal aglets with metal speedhooks, but I can change these out later if I have any issues. Traction: No issues what so ever on the trail. I am confident when walking over smooth or wet rocks. Cushion: I have some bone spurs on my heels and these boots provided adequate cushioning on their own so I don't have any serious issues there. Waterproofing: They are not super water proof to be honest. They have a lot of ventilation and when treading through streams, your feet do get wet. They seem to dry fairly well if you're wearing the right socks (not cotton). Side Zipper: I originally wished there was a version without the side zipper, but I now see the merrits of the zipper system. They make it much easier to insert and remove your foot from the boot. I'm not sure whether the intention was a lace'n'forget system, using only the zipper afterwards, as I personally am unable to remove or insert my foot without unlacing the boots a bit. HOWEVER, I do not have to unlace the boots completely, and sometimes boots are hard to get on and off even when completely unlaced. With the zipper, the boots are really easy to get on and off. So far, I have had no issues with the zipper. I have put about 50km on them in rough terrain and they have not failed me. Overall: These are really solid boots. I am overally really satisfied with their construction and design. They are super comfortable and feel durable. You may run into issues with the plastic speedhooks later on, however.
Review: Functional, Supportive, and Immediately Noticeable - **ADD ON** I have now purchased my second pair, and after breaking them in, they are every bit as comfortable and supportive as the first pair. These have officially become my go-to footwear for everyday use, walking, camping, and time outdoors. The second pair will primarily serve as a backup and allow me to rotate between the two. That should help both pairs last longer while also giving each pair time to fully dry and breathe between uses, which should help prevent odors and moisture buildup. After putting considerably more time and miles on the first pair, I am just as impressed with them as I was when I originally wrote this review. Buying a second pair was an easy decision. **ORIGINAL** I bought these because my old hunting boots started losing lace points last year, and I have several camping trips with other Veterans coming up this summer, plus hunting season again in the fall. I needed something functional, supportive, and reliable, not just something that looked the part. These showed up right as I was walking out the door to take my dog to the park, so I figured I would start breaking them in immediately. I expected the usual new-boot soreness, and I did get a little of that in the normal spots. That is just part of breaking in a real boot. What I did not expect was the rest of my body feeling better. For context, I started wearing combat boots around age 14 as a military brat. My feet were already adult-sized, and I could get boots cheap at the base thrift store. At 18, I joined up myself and, of course, wore combat boots through my military career, including my time in the Army as a Paratrooper and Scout. We rucked or ran everywhere, and I ran in boots more often than running shoes because, to me, training in shoes I could not use in the field never made much sense. I wore boots hard all the way through retirement. Lately, though, I had been trying to get by with softer shoes and lighter footwear. Even with decent footwear, my hips would start locking up, my lower back would spasm, and my knees would get angry about half a mile into a walk. First day in these boots, I did two miles and could still move afterward. That is not subtle. I fractured a vertebra in Iraq, and that did slow me down a bit, so footwear that actually helps me stay mobile matters. These are not old-school combat boots in the traditional sense, but they hit the right balance. They have enough structure, ankle support, sole stiffness, and stability to make my feet feel like they are back on familiar ground, while still having more cushion than my older “waffle stomper” style boots. My old boots still fit like gloves, but I cannot do impact miles in them anymore. These feel like the modern answer to that problem. They will still need some break-in time, especially around the usual pressure points, but that is expected. Overall, they immediately improved how I moved and reduced the pain I had been dealing with during walks. That matters more to me than any marketing language. I am already planning to order a second pair as backup, because when you find boots that work this well, you buy another pair before somebody “improves” them into uselessness.

Fitment: As someone who struggles with footwear due to the shape and wideness of my feet, these boots are a solid win in my book. I was able to order them in my actual size, without having to go up. One minor issue: The model for these boots was likely a wide foot with a higher arch.
