What is there to say about Infinity products....always a good clean sound

Lots of popping after 1 month of light use; distorting sound quality.

I have OEM Infinity speakers installed in several unamplified Mitsubishi SUVs and I've always been VERY pleased with their sound. When I decided to upgrade my new 2023 Bronco 4-door soft top, I started surfing the forums and to my surprise the Infinity name started popping up. Those that had used them were very pleased so I decided give them a try. Anyone that ridden in a 6G 6/7 speaker system Bronco will know how bad the sound is, especially from the front dash and rear pod speakers. :( They are amazingly cheap paper cone 'mid' range speakers that make no bass, almost no highs and everything sound like an old AM radio. Blea! My plan is to do all the speakers starting with the front dash so I could compare as pieces were completed. I have no intention of installing and amplifier so I've started with the 4" Infinity Reference coaxial speakers for the dash. These are 3 Ohm, very efficient speakers so I won't loose volume and will easily handle the wattage of the OEM 'head unit'. After installing these and playing with the fader, bass, mid, treb settings, I'm impressed! ONLY the replacement of the front two dash speakers with these makes an amazing difference! I am very pleased! I can't wait to do the rear pods! Stuff to know - They're bright! AFAIKT, very much due to the position RIGHT at the windshield. That is a LOT of glass. Turn the treb slider way down to suit and that goes away. The Infinity Reference 4" produces much better mids and lows than the OEM speaker. MUCH better! Two (opposing) mount tabs have to be trimmed off to fit in the Bronco mount. I used a set of tin snips. This means no returning these to anyone sooo if this is a problem for you .... There are adapter harnesses that make this a true drop in install (Metra 72-5603). No wire chopping/hacking. Adapter harness plugs directly into the speaker and then right into the OEM harness. (these also, btw, fit the rear pods) The OEM cones are REALLY cheap paper. If you drive with the top off, the Infinity Reference cones are Polypropylene. The Bronco rear pods use the exact same 4" speaker size as the dash. DO NOT -- repeat DO NOT -- just replace the rear pods with different 4" speakers! This is a total waste of money! Replace the rear OEM pods with pods that fit 6.5/6.75" speakers like the Infinity Reference 607F. And then use the 607F speakers. :) I have both a 2-door and a 4-door Bronco - 4" speakers in the rear pods will work only very slightly better in the 2-door. No matter what speaker you use, they will still massively suck in both. Depending on the overall system and how the sound system is used (how loud), bass blockers may need to be installed on the dash and/or pods with the 4" speakers. This is one of those things that won't be known until the speakers are installed. YMMV Overall, I love these speakers! They sound sssoooooo much better than the OEM speakers!! Can't wait to hear the 6.5" 607F version!
