I've tried so many natural deodorants over the years, and PHLUR’s Father Figure & Vanilla Skin combo is by far the best I’ve found, especially for someone like me who deals with Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS). If you have sensitive underarms, are prone to flare-ups, or struggle with finding deodorants that don’t clog pores or cause irritation, this is a game-changer. What I Love: No Baking Soda & No Aluminum – This is crucial for anyone with HS or sensitive skin. Baking soda often causes dryness or burns for me, but this formula skips it and still controls odor effectively. No Bumps or Irritation – After weeks of use, zero bumps, redness, or friction. That’s huge for me. Long-Lasting Odor Protection (Really Does Last 48 Hours) – I live in the hot Southern climate, and whether I'm running errands or out for hours, it holds up beautifully and keeps me fresh throughout the day. Clean Ingredients That Actually Work – Ingredients like salicylic acid, arrowroot powder, and tamanu oil do more than mask odor, they keep skin balanced and calm inflammation. The salicylic acid gently exfoliates, which helps prevent clogged pores (a big plus for HS flare-ups). No Residue, No White Marks – It goes on clear and dries down fast. I can throw on a black shirt right after without worrying. Scent – "Father Figure" is warm, earthy, and not overpowering - think subtle sophistication with a gender-neutral vibe. "Vanilla Skin" is soft and slightly sweet but still clean. I layer them sometimes and they blend beautifully. Texture & Application: It’s a smooth solid, not too hard, not too oily. It glides on effortlessly, which matters when your skin is sensitive or healing from a flare. Final Thoughts: If you’re navigating Hidradenitis Suppurativa or just have ultra-sensitive underarms, this deodorant might be your holy grail. No bumps, no stinging, no weird residue - and it actually works. It’s a little pricier than drugstore options, but for the comfort and confidence it gives me daily, it’s worth every penny.

In a sea of vanilla and musky, woodsy deodorants, this one was a literal breath of fresh air. I’ve always preferred clean or light/unscented deodorants, but I love this scent — fruity but also earthy and a little musky so you don’t smell like a teenage girl. Not overly perfumed at all. And it actually works really well. I do moderate to high intensity cardio 4-5 times a week and it holds up at the gym. Doesn’t stain clothes or transfer as easily as some others. This is the first natural deodorant I have been able to easily switch to for good.

I SO LOVE this! Best natural deodorant EVER ! Where have you been ? I've finally found a brand that smells super great, doesn't leave me sticky, is -very- effective and without aluminum and all the bad stuff. No skin irritation, it just simply works, clean and simple!

This deodorant is really nice and the vanilla skin scent is so soft and pretty it genuinely smells luxurious and clean. On cooler days it works really well and keeps me feeling fresh throughout the day no problem. Where it falls a little short for me is on warmer days or when I’m more active the protection just doesn’t hold up as long as I’d need it to. So it’s definitely more of a fall and winter situation for me personally. The formula feels gentle on the skin and I like that it’s natural. For the right climate and occasions it’s a really lovely deodorant. Just keep your expectations realistic if you run warm or live somewhere hot!

I’ve yet to use these! However, I have been using the vanilla skin ones for the last few months. They help to reduce odor and last a very long time.

Packaging: Is there supposed to be any sort of sanitary seal on these deodorants? The deodorant was delivered in an Amazon bag mailer, without any other packaging, tape, or shrink wrap. There is a rounded plastic lid within the main lid, but it wasn’t sealed. Used Product: Unfortunately, my fears were confirmed when I opened the bottle and found a hair and specks of dirt/lint on the deodorant itself. See photos. It’s not insanely dirty, but I also wouldn’t want to use the product after someone else did. Nor should I have to. Vanilla Skin Scent: In the bottle, Vanilla Skin smells nice and complex. Not like a fake vanilla or desert. The jasmine note (which I’m generally not a fan of) doesn’t stand out to me. It’s not too feminine. I think it would complement a variety perfumes/colognes with sandalwood esk notes. Scents often give me a headache, but I doubt this one would bother me. It’s not a super strong scent, but it’s not weak either. I can’t speak to how it smells on, but I’m hopeful it would wear well and last— of course these things will vary person to person based on PH etc. Closing thoughts: - I hate reading reviews from people who haven’t tried the actual product, but wanted to warn others of a possible sanitary issue! - I hope this bottle was a return fluke and that new products are sealed properly before leaving the factory. - I plan to ask for refund for this product and go to a store irl to repurchase it. - There’s a lot to look forward to in trying this deodorant. After years of using Native deodorant (and starting to smell skunky, a common report on Reddit) I’m specifically looking for a BHA deodorant to neutralize the source of the oder. I like the scent and hope it will wear well on me. - Unless this product is normally sealed, I suggest you pick up the product irl, so you can inspect it before buying.

Phul Father Figure smelled like terrible perfume and did not use it Noxious terrible perfume smell was a deterrent, not a deodorant. Notice how Amazon has a disclaimer saying "Frequently returned due to odor." Believe it! I opened it, winced at the overwhelming smell, and sent it back. Of all the natural deodorants free of chemicals, irritating baking soda, and aluminum that I tired over the decades as a vegan natural health extremist, most have overpowering smells, and need reapplication to mask stinky sweat smells, so they do not really work, unfortunately. Other natural deodorants - Blossom to Bath: subtle sandalwood/amber smell, non-irritating, non-effective. I smelled like sweat BO and fruit. Had to reapply frequently to hope its smell was stronger than my BO, which is typical for most natural deodorants. - Crystal magnesium creams (not their aluminum clear “rocks”) worked well at minimizing BO, but some of their formulas have very strong fragrances that my sensitive nose was not happy with. The black charcoal tea tree oil version smelled like an old-time strong alcohol-based manly cologne that mainstreamers probably have no issue with. - Little Seed Farm and Primal Pits creams are pastes in jars that did not work and were messy in application.- Schmidts worked for most of the day, but they discontinued all formulas for sensitive skin that did not have irritating baking soda/sodium bicarbonate. - Schmidts was OK but no longer available in sensitive skin formula; they now all contain baking soda that causes rashes on my pits - Stick Up lavender was so-so at minimizing BO for half the day, but terrible mess! It clumps up and falls to the floor, messing up my rugs, gets on my pants as it crumbled from my pit throughout the day, stained shirt pits, had to scrub out of armpit hair later. Applied and was a white paste like paint. Always needed a second application. Forget it.

I love the smell of Phlur Vanilla Skin Deodorant- it’s warm, creamy, and addictive. Compared to the perfume, this deo feels a bit softer and creamier since it’s a solid and I love it! I’ve never had much luck with natural deodorants, but I switched to this one in June and I’m still using it which honestly says everything. The formula has completely changed my underarm skin. It healed irritation I didn’t even realize I was dealing with, and my skin now feels nourished, calm, and healthy. I do reapply a few times a day, which would normally annoy me, but the scent is so lovely that I don’t mind at all. The screw-top packaging is also a big plus, it’s easy to throw in a bag and I never worry about leaks. If you’ve struggled with natural deodorants before, this one is absolutely worth trying. Highly recommend.
