This jacket is timeless. I do wish the interior lining was still some sort of scratchy wool BUT the material it's lined with is still nice and makes it to where you can wear it essentially year round. The duck canvas is nice and thick still. The fit is true to size, if you order your size and you have a long torso be prepared for it to be a tad short. I wear a 3XL and it still covers my dad tummy so don't worry too hard about it cause it still LOOKS SO GOOD. Also great putter shell for layering with a hoodie, definitely keep the wind off ya. 10/10 I ordered 2.

Definitely not what I remember buying many years ago. This feels thin and the lining isn't the same as before. Let's hope it lasts nearly as long as the last one.

Carhartt's quality is always to notch but the "designers" missed the mark on this one. I'm 6'2" & 220 lb, I usually wear a LT when available as a XL is usually a little to wide. However Carhartt must have decided to use the waist material for the sleeves on this one. The waist barely covered my navel, but the sleeves were perfect length.

So I tried this jacket in medium and large. I wear large in all my normal every day clothing. But I do wear medium in all my Carhartt loose fit shirts and jackets. Large fit me perfect and for that reason i say this jacket is true to size. The sleeve lengths are long and perfect for my work. I constantly move my arms while sitting at work, the length sits just right but the sleeves don’t ride up like most of my jackets. The sleeve is wide enough and long enough to protect my watch. At first I found it annoying because I check the time quite a bit. But then I realized my watch was not being scratched as much. The canvas is softer than I expected, that just meant there was no break in needed. It feels wearable and comfortable right out the package. I know Carhartt gets a lot of flak when they update their jackets but this one is pretty good. I honestly would change one thing and that is to have the option for a blanket lining. It is kind of thin and i would like a warmer version of this exact jacket

This Rugged Flex Detroit jacket is an update to the classic Carhartt Detroit jacket. The duck canvas is lighter, less stiff and more comfortable to wear. However, it also means it feels less durable. Comparing it with my Carhartt WIP Detroit jacket, the canvas is thinner and softer, making it great for spring or fall, but I can also wear on a cooler summer morning or evening. My WIP Detroit jacket with lining is for fall and winter. The inner lining of this Rugged Flex jacket is just a thin cloth, instead of the wool like lining of the WIP Detroit. The arms are also unlined, which again makes it a cooler and more breathable jacket to wear. I do like that this jacket has two inner pockets, versus just one on WIP jacket. For sizing, I would recommend sizing down. I am 6 ft with slender build and found the small fits well. The sleeves were perfect and the torso fits slightly shorter, similar to other Carhartt Detroit jackets that don't have the tail on the back. Overall, this Rugged Flex is a slightly different take on the Detroit jacket but looks stylish and has a better, more modern fit and is very comfortable to wear.
