No, the Amiibo figures are basically an add-on to the game. They are a computer controlled player that you can train with or level up. They are not necessary. Trust me amiibo figures are nice, but don't change the game or make it significantly better.

Yes, in fact, as far as it is known, up to 4 players can play this game on the same tv so long as they all have a controller.

Best multi-player game since a very long time

Best multi-player game since a very long time.Felt like multi-player is dead in other consoles after ps2.But, Nintendo stands best in multi-player platform and delivered some of the best classics in its earlier consoles including wii. And this game is a tribute! The best multi-player game for next gen consoles.
