I am trying to find something to use on a small sailboat that doesn't require mounting ... any ideas?** A: I bought it as an emergency backup for my yacht. I don't use it. It does measure in knots. Sorry I don't have any ideas on mounting it. **Q: tide** A: No. it does not show tides, it does show moon and sun rise/set times as well as best hunt and fish times. **Q: I'm new tho GPS...I have a brother in the Philippines and he needs to draw his trails (basically make his own map) over the mountains. Will this work?** A: I would have to say no, your brother would probably need something with a map similar to the Garmin GPSMAP 64 Worldwide with High-Sensitivity GPS and GLONASS Receiver, just an example you can get anyone you choose. It may cost a little more but to make your own map you would need one of the slightly more advanced models. **Q: Does this 72H operate on external power ?** A: There is a 12v. cable available if you have an outlet near your steering station.
