Best buy for advanced birders
An excellent and exhaustive compilation of information on birds of Indian subcontinent. Not a bird for beginners but for those who are more interested and committed definitely worth it's value in gold. It has very detailed coloured drawings ( no pictures) explaining the subtle differences between species, sexes and geographical distribution. A must-have for identification and research. If a bird exists it has to be in this book!! With all taxonomic names and classifications

One of the best book on Birds of Indian subcontinent. Great gift for nature lovers and children
This book is one for Ornithologists as well as causal bird watcher. I already have one copy and ought again to gift it to budding bird watcher. It is also a great book for gifting to a nature lover. We have 2000 odd species of birds in Indian subcontinent. Printing is excellent and the paper quality is superlative. One can go for it instead of spending on Chocolates and gadgets on birthdays

Better Pictures and Easy references
I had an Oxford Pocket Guide to the Birds of the INDIAN Subcontinent by RICHARD GRIMMETT, CAROL INSKIPP, TIM INSKIPP. I used to carry it during my birding outings for last many years. Then recently one of my birding friend Showed me this HELM FIELD GUIDES - Birds of Indian Subcontinent by same Authors. When I saw this book, I noticed two very important qualities, 1. The plates giving pictures of birds and corresponding Maps were side by side unlike in the Oxford Pocket. Guide, in which the Maps were located some Where else and you have to turn many pages to see the map. This change has helped me a lot. 2. I find the colours of Bird pictures in this book more natural compared to the bird colours in earlier Oxford Pocket Guide. In view of above two factors, I immediately bought this book.
