This stainless doughnut falafel press is true stainless as it is nonmagnetic. The press itself is as one would expect a stainless falafel press to be, if they have experience with previous stainless falafel presses. The only difference between this falafel press, and similar falafel presses sold on the market is the middle piece giving the patties a hole in the middle. This hole in the middle caught my attention, and I ordered this falafel press,. I have a very similar, slightly smaller falafel press which makes regular patties. The doughnuts shape helps the patties cook quicker. As it is the middle part of a Patty that cooks last. With the hole in the middle, the cooking medium can penetrate the food from more angles, ultimately cooking the food quicker. There are some downsides to having a hole in the middle. First the dough one uses is more picky than one would have to use for a scoop. One has to make sure the consistency of the dough is correct. If the consistency is incorrect, the batter can get stuck to the scoop and make a mess. For the hole to remain open the consistency has to be right. Not too wet, not too dry, not too sticky, but the dough must still be able to bind. This falafel press is fairly easy to clean. All one has to do is unscrew the thumb handle which lets the internals separate. It is also possible to make mini doughnuts with this falafel press, although I am not sure if I would ever actually make mini donuts. Overall, wonderful item you’re looking for a specialty falafel press. If you want to make doughnuts with these, one may have to find this style falafel press in a larger size, as this one will only make micro doughnuts.
