Excellent Blackout Blinds – Great Quality and Easy to Install
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent Blackout Blinds – Great Quality and Easy to Install I’m really happy with these motorized blinds. The installation was straightforward, and the instructions were easy to follow. The remote paired quickly, and the motor is surprisingly quiet when raising or lowering the shade. The blackout fabric does a great job blocking sunlight, making the room much darker and more comfortable, especially during the afternoon. The valance gives the blinds a clean, finished look, and the bright white color blends nicely with the room. As you can see in the photo, the blind fits well and looks sleek. Overall, it feels like a high-quality product for the price. If you’re looking for cordless, remote-controlled blackout blinds, I would definitely recommend these.

Very satisfying DIY project
I bought 3 of these to replace the cellular blinds that costed ridiculously more and had an average lifespan of 2.5 years, and couldn’t be happier with them. I’m planning to replace other windows as well. The blinds came well packaged and with good instructions. Quality seems good especially compared with another brand I bought and returned. Installation was easy. I took more time to look for side channels between them and on the sides to completely block out lights. I eventually found an outside corner trim made of PVC in local Home Depot that looks great and is very easy to install. The end result both looks and works great. Paired with the Citolen smart hub, I can easily link to Alexa and Google Home. To my surprise I found I could add the commands to Siri so it works with Apple as well. Another bonus is Tuya app automatically adds to Apple Watch and that became my favorite control especially when I want to be quiet. Some reviews complained the wireless range was short but I found I cloud place the smart hub in another room about 25 feet away and it worked well. Just a couple of minor improvements I can think of: 1. The remote occasionally (~10%) doesn’t work. The same with smart hub. It seems it’s an issue with the wireless module in the blinds. I worked around by repeating the steps in the Tuya app. 2. The fabric looks nice but there were frays on the edge. I used fray check to solve the problem but it would be nice to be done by the manufacturer. 3. The bottom rail is a bit too light and could be stuck to the side channels. Conveniently though it is hollow inside and could be opened from both sides. I bought some 3/16” x 36” steel rods also from Home Depot and slides them in. That solved the problem. Update: I bought 5 more for another room. It’s been more than a year now and all have been working great. Fingers crossed they will last because I really love how they look and work. I recently installed Home Assistant on my Mac Min server and it integrates them flawlessly. It also has Apple Watch app and that’s what I use now because it’s much faster in responsiveness.

Satisfied for the price
While not perfect, these are well worth the price and can be easily improved after installation for about 5 bucks. If these were more expensive I would rate it lower, but considering the price I'm satisfied. The good: Clean and easy install, especially with the version that includes the solar charger. Programming the min/max limits is easy and only takes a few seconds. The blinds include a small and simple remote that seems to work even from the next room. While not completely silent, these are fairly quiet. The material blocks out light completely even in direct sunlight. The meh: The edges of the fabric are prone to fraying, especially if not calibrated perfectly. This was exacerbated by some of my blinds being out of alignment, causing them to get stuck on one side. While it turned out to be an easy fix, the installation instructions don't cover this process. The bottom bar is very light and can easily get stuck. Also an easy fix. The fixes: For the alignment, if you notice the shade is tracking left or right (very apparent after it is rolled up), unroll it all the way (past it's normal lower position) and place a small piece of masking tape (1-2 inches was all I needed) on the side it is tracking AWAY from. Roll it up, check, repeat until you get it right. For the weight, pop open the end caps on the bottom bar and slide in a 3/16" or 1/4" steel rod from the hardware store. It adds just enough weight to help. My only gripe that can't be fixed easily is that in order to use these with a home assistant or app you have to buy a hub. Would be nice to have that feature built in or included. But seems like the ones that have that built in are much more expensive.

Wow Highly recommend
Just finished the install. We have a picture window near the peak of a cathedral ceiling that gets direct sun about 6 hours daily. It made the room heat up like a greenhouse. Having researched other products, including custom size, this was a fraction of the cost! Read directions fully first. Then install is smooth. We did outside mount. Also when programming the remote, it’s a longer press and hold to set program. Not just a tap. Works great. We programmed it to go up only to a certain point so the narrow solar panel isn’t visible, and to stop at the window trim when being lowered. Not sure why the instructions say the usb charging is recommended over the solar. We chose it with the solar because of the window’s high location. Remains to be seen if this solar panel keeps it operational. Hope so. The room was INSTANTLY cooler with the shade down. It does darken as well. Recommending this to family with multiple windows and manual shades.

Poor decision to buy these blinds.
Frayed edges from constant jams. It wares quickly due to it constantly jamming. DONT think you can walk away after pressing button you must stick around in case it jams. Mine looks like its 10 years old, but only got it a month and a half ago. To much of a hassle to return when it started jamming after installation, now its just too late. Treat yourself to a nice dinner instead of this crap. Remote also busted upon first drop too.

Beautiful blinds, worth the effort to automate/group - Edit: troubleshooting if gets stuck unwinding
Aesthetically nice blinds and relatively easy to install. Looks like they give you an extra few vertical inches as well at the bottom of the pre-sized 72" high models which you can unlock when setting the starting/stopping point if you have a window slightly longer than 72". Only improvements I'd like are: * a rechargeable battery pack (instead of the 6-AA pack inside the top) * access to the batteries from the front behind the valence so you don't need to unclip the blinds to replace batteries (similar to the Ikea design) * Better instructions on how to setup the hub for Alexa/Google home - as the manual for the hub wasn't completely accurate on how to connect to Alexa/Google inside the tuya app, but I eventually was able to setup the hub, connect each blind, name them, and create a routine to open/close all 3 at once. Otherwise, as this cost a tiny fraction of all other quotes I got for similar solutions (using the pre-sized blinds) I'm pretty happy with how these turned out. Ordering 3 more for a sliding door so everything can be centrally controllable via the hub. Edit w. 4 month update (dropping to 3 stars): I ordered 3 more blinds for my sliding door and that's when trouble began. With this order, 1 of the blinds was broken on delivery (clutch/motor edge wasn't connected) but the other one unevenly rolled up/down as the fabric started angling left/right when coming down vs. staying straight and wouldn't uniformly wind up and would press the edge of the blind fabric into the right/left edge of the end plug. This non-uniform roll-up both damaged the edge of the fabric when the blind was rolling up (leaving loose threads on the edge), and more importantly, the blind would get stuck and crease when rolling down (another review includes a video showing this). I returned these 2 for a replacement and 1 of the 2 replacements had the same problems while the other worked fine. After doing a bit of troubleshooting (was the bottom weight uneven? was my mount not level? was my battery too weak for the motor as it wouldn't spin the left & right edge uniformly? was the blind fabric not uniformly glued to the rod?) I fully unrolled the blind via the remote in admin mode and found some masking tape in various random positions on the roller tube that was both making the unwinding uneven, and was likely used at the factory as a hack to address this. How to fix: In short, by adding/removing and tweaking the thickness of the masking tape placed on the central aluminum roller tube - visible when the blind was fully unrolled (switch in remote next to battery set to admin mode and unwind until you see the metal rod) and repositioning it or thickening it towards one edge or the middle, I was able to fix the poor factory balancing job through some trial & error. My only unsolved remaining problem is that with the remote, tuya, and even a broadlink RF device, when signals were being sent to all 6 blinds at once to unroll/roll up, about 25% of the time, one of the 6 blinds wouldn't react. The blind that doesn't react is random (sometimes it was the 3rd, sometimes 2nd, sometimes 4th) and the problem comes if the commands are given in short sequence via a google home routine via broadlink, via tuya app, or even by just using a master remote to send a signal to all 6 at once. Not sure if this is just common with RF devices, or if I'm just unlucky with some harmonic problem & interference.

Great for the price
I've had these for a few months and they've been a great addition to my bedroom window. They aren't the highest quality, but you get what you pay for and I didn't want to Fork out a few hundred dollars for a window shade. They're decent value for what I paid. The solar panel seems to be working . I have not had to charge the battery in several months. They were easy to install. You can adjust how far they go down and how high they go up so only pressing one button will go to your presets.

Definitely NOT Blackout — Instructions Need Serious Work
I really wanted to like these, but a couple things you should know before buying: 1. These are absolutely not blackout shades. They dim the room a bit, but light still comes in from the fabric and especially around the edges. If you need a true blackout effect, these won’t get you there. 2. The instructions are abysmal. They don’t clearly explain how the clips or valance attach, and the diagrams are confusing. I had to figure out the correct installation by trial and error. Once you understand the layout, the install itself is actually very simple — the instructions just make it harder than it needs to be. 3. Motor works fine and the shade looks good. So the product isn’t terrible, but the listing oversells the “blackout” claim and the manufacturer needs to redo the manual completely. Overall, not the worst purchase, but definitely not what I expected based on the description.
