My 2 year old tiny dog was developing thick tarter on his teeth :(My dog’s vet said it wasn’t bad enough for him to get a dental, but I needed to start brushing his teeth daily to keep it from getting worse. I bought this toothpaste hoping it would keep build up down but it turned out even better. After just a week of putting the toothpaste on his teeth in the morning and brushing with it at night, a big chunk of calcified tarter came off his right canine tooth while I was examining them. (So satisfying). This an awesome product! So glad I found something that works!I included pictures of his canines. One where the tartar hasn’t come off yet and the other where you can see how much cleaner and less irritated his gum line looks now that the tarter chip fell off.

Great product that my dog seems to love! Makes teeth brushing time a lot easier, maybe even enjoyable?! Better ingredients than what I’ve found in most tooth pastes for animals.

I love that all you have to do is get this toothpaste on your pet's back teeth, you don't have to actually brush each tooth. We have an older cat and the vet suggested stepping up her dental care to avoid having to do a dental exam under anesthesia, so we got this and one of the small pet toothbrushes on Amazon (can't remember which exact one, but they're kind of all the same and as this toothpaste is enzymatic the brush or application method you use isn't super important). Callie (the cat) really likes the brush, we got her used to it slowly. First you can just hold it out to your cat without toothpaste on it and letting them brush their cheeks on it, and eventually when they're relaxed you can start moving the brush a bit and moving it closer to their mouth and most cats will probably start to chew a bit on it anyways. Once their used to the brush you can add this toothpaste. Our cat doesn't love the taste of the paste, and it only comes in the one flavor (beef) which is why I docked a star. But she lets us get the brush in her mouth and scrub a bit. Once you get it on their back teeth, the tongue movement will actually get the toothpaste everywhere it needs to go. So you don't need to even use a brush at all if your pet won't tolerate it. You can use your finger to smear it in there real quick, or one of the finger brushes, etc. This toothpaste is pretty expensive compared to other options and compared to human toothpaste, but based on the ingredients it is definitely the safest, and you only need such a small amount so it will last for a very long time. Some of the cheaper ones on Amazon are NOT pet safe, and neither is human toothpaste. This is also the brand many vets use in the office. Some other things you can do to improve dental health in cats is to give them crunchy treats/food (wet food is better for nutrition usually, but dry food occasionally or crunchy treats are good for scraping plaque and stimulating their gums), make sure they have access to fresh water, and give them toys that have different textures, especially netting, around them.

Love the VOHC cert and the double enzyme. Works better than the prior brand I used with just one enzyme. The pups seem to like it better as well.

This is 3rd time I buy this products. It is good toothpastes.

My vet recommended this toothpaste as it is VOHC approved. It has been effective in keeping tartar at bay. I brush my pups' teeth daily. I put a little on my finger and thumb and rub it on their teeth and gums. The doctor even suggested putting some on their chew toys for added effectiveness. So far, we have seen no intestinal issues (vomit or loose stools). Sophia, Maiya, and Lexi think it's a treat. They obviously like the flavor. AND it freshens their breath! Doggy kisses are pleasant! Highly recommend!

Getting a cat to let you brush their teeth is a trick but, I believe that the taste of this may have helped getting my younger cat to have a bit more patience, and she likes the taste.

This toothpaste really works! My dog’s breed tends to have tooth problems and when I realized that she was getting a build up of black tartar on her teeth, it was time to do something. For the last three weeks, I have brushed her teeth daily and the black on her teeth has been steadily going away. This isn’t a quick fix but it’s really helping! I’ll also say that my dog loves the taste and it doesn’t have a strong smell, so I’m thrilled to have found something that actually worked and that my dog enjoys. Finally, while it’s expensive, I can see the value as I have hardly made a dent in the bottle after nearly a month. I will be buying it again!

Ich nutze die Petsmile Zahnpasta nun schon seit einiger Zeit für meinen Hund. Man sollte kein Wunder erwarten, im Sinne von "der Zahnstein verschwindet von selbst", aber das Produkt ist eine enorme Erleichterung für die mechanische Reinigung.Meine Routine und Erfahrung:- Anwendung: Ich putze die Zähne meines Hundes mindestens alle zwei Tage mit einer sehr weichen Zahnbürste.- Wirkung auf den Zahnstein: Die Paste verhindert die Neubildung von Zahnstein zwar nicht komplett, aber sie verändert die Beschaffenheit der Ablagerungen massiv. Der Zahnstein bleibt deutlich weicher.- Manuelle Reinigung: Etwa einmal pro Woche entferne ich den angesammelten, weichen Zahnstein ganz einfach mit einem Gaze-Fingerling. Das funktioniert in dieser Kombination hervorragend, da der Belag nicht verhärtet und sich ohne großen Druck lösen lässt.- Akzeptanz: Da der Geschmack dem Hund gefällt, ist die Prozedur alle zwei Tage völlig stressfrei.Fazit:In meinem Fall funktioniert die Zahnpasta als "Weichmacher". Wer bereit ist, die Zähne regelmäßig zu bürsten und einmal pro Woche den weichen Belag manuell nachzubearbeiten, bekommt hiermit die Zahngesundheit seines Hundes sehr gut in den Griff. Für diese effektive Unterstützung vergebe ich gerne 4 Sterne.

Expensive, but this is one of the few that actually works — not just smells nice.

After an expensive dental cleaning that indicated some early signs of decay, we thought we would try a few more teeth cleaning options as we only have some water additive. This is approved by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC), so hopefully it makes a difference in the longer term.We use this with a silicone finger toothbrush on our dog and he doesn't seem to mind and the instructions just say to put on the teeth (you don't need to brush).It's more economical than the oravet chews which were also recommended to us, so even though it's a much more expensive than human toothpaste, there is a small saving there. We will also still use the water additive.We have used it for a few weeks with success, our next dental checkup will be the true test though!
