The Incredible Hulk: The Complete Series [DVD]

I collect old TV show DVD sets and this complete series Studio set of The Incredible Hulk DVD was a great find at a great price. It brings back memories from my childhood, and I love the nostalgia of watching these old shows anytime I want, and doing it without commercials. Studio sets of DVD’s are superior to most other DVD sets and this set is quality. Universal Studio did a great job with this box set. This set is of all 5 seasons of the show. Season 5 was a short season , when it ended . All seasons are in their own clamshell case which I love. See the photos of the set.

I watched this show in the 70s when it first came out on television. It came on back to back with The Dukes of Hazzard on a Friday night. I ordered these on January 20 and received them January 22 and I started watching them immediately. The next day I did a Google search for Bill Bixby and I learned that his birthday was January 22. Strange coincidence. It took me 11 days to binge watch all the episodes. I wanted to make sure there were no defects that would warrant returning them within 30 days. It's a wonderful series with some exciting episodes, but such a sad story for Dr. David Banner.

I was just a kid when this program was being aired on television.I first saw it when I was about seven years old and it made a huge impression on me. I remember clearly hiding behind the couch when David Banner morphed into the Hulk and being so sad at the end when he had to go out on the road again with that haunting music playing in the background. I never forgot the series and since I was not able to watch every episode of each season, it was a really great when I received this set in the post. The box is of good quality and durable. I think the graphics showing the changing of David Banner from himself into the Hulk on the front cover is fantastic. The quality of the DVDs is very good and I love the details like each DVD cover having a different exciting picture of the Hulk or David Banner or the changing process in between. Things like the green DVDs and the raised lettering on them all add to the solid impression that this is a collectors item and that the people who designed this set really did it with passion and an attention to detail.As if they too are fans and really wanted to do this subject as much justice as possible. It was nice to take a trip down memory lane, to see the clothes and cars of my youth, to see the people and how they were, compared to what we have now become. Obviously seeing things through the eyes of an adult one also sees just how much our society has evolved in positive ways as well. The Hulk still manages to make a believable impression, the story's are good and Bill Bixby and Lou are simply untoppable. My seven year old son is watching the series with me and also has great interest, it's a strange sense of deja vu seeing him watch something I used to love watching, as if the Hulk is reaching out through the generations. The other day he was running through the house with no shirt roaring at everybody! Even my wife watches some of the episodes, and she is not a Sci fi fan! My conclusion is, great quality, great detail and still interesting after many years. The price is also not bad, so go out and get it, and be prepared to roar!

Universal Studios finally releases this beloved TV adaptation of the popular comic book starring Bill Bixby as brilliant and noble scientist Dr. David Banner who undergoes an accidental overdose of Gamma radiation, turning him in times of emotional or physical duress into the Hulk (played memorably by Lou Ferrigno) that David has no control over, forcing him (due to extenuating circumstances) to take to the roads as a homeless wanderer trying to find a cure for his condition, relentlessly pursued by a tabloid reporter (played by Jack Colvin) who wants to uncover his secrets. Produced, and sometimes written and directed, by veteran TV producer Kenneth Johnson, who wisely grounded the series in reality, as David helped ordinary people in need, or the Hulk throttled the criminals, rather than supervillains. Looking superb in HD, a huge upgrade over the DVDs from 2006-2008, this ports over all the extras from those sets (with the sole exception being the Edward Norton interview). Nothing new was added unfortunately (I'm sure Kenneth Johnson would have if asked) this is still a must have for fans who want to view this classic series that ran for 5 years (1977-1982) and 85 syndicated episodes. The finest TV series adaptation of a comic book ever made, this still holds up remarkably well, and is quite suitable for its intended family audience, Bill Bixby as David Banner is still admirable, a tragic, yet inspirational hero to us all. A rotten shame it was cancelled without proper closure, and that does depend on your view of those three reunion films from 1988-1990 that Kenneth Johnson was not involved with and are not included here either

I finally decided to get the Blu Ray set. I'm playing it tonight. I checked all 5 cases and none of the discs were loose or broken trays so that's good. One good thing I did notice was that Universal listened to the fans because the season one case now has three discs trays instead of stacking disc 2 and 3 on top of each other like in some of the unboxing videos on YouTube.

Very good video and audio quality. Actually quite a impressive remaster for a 70s tv show. I highly recommend this one.

Really liked the design of the case and the video restoration is very good for the time when it was originally released. I've only finished season 1 so far but this collection has everything including the TV movies, all episodes and bonus content. Very happy with my purchase and was extra special as I met Lou Ferrigno lately and had him sign it.
