Great for outdoor movies
We have a remote, off the grid yurt and we wanted to be able to watch movies with a battery powered projector. I looked at a lot of them and chose this one based on battery length. The projector has 4 settings for the battery usage. In Full mode, the light is bright but you will only get about 2 hours out of the battery. On Eco mode you can get over 5, but the light looks dim. We have found that Extended Eco gives us about 4 hours of playing time, but the picture still is quite bright. We use an 84 inch portable screen and the picture is very clear and crisp. We put the projector on a small table about 4 feet from the screen and use the built in stand and it works great. And it is very easy to use. It comes with a USB C to USB C cord that I use to stream live TV (Hulu) from my Android phone. This drains the battery however because the projector charges my phone while running. Most of the time, we watch movies that I have downloaded onto my iPad. The iPad doesn't need to charge while playing which saves the projector battery. In order to connect an Apple product, I got an HDMI to Apple lightning converter plug. The projector has a USB C input, an HDMI input, as well as a USB. You can plug in a USB stick to play videos, but I have never done this. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this projector. It stores compactly, has a really nice picture and sound (although to make it really loud I connect my JBL portable speaker into it), has great battery life, and is easy to use. It's worked great for outdoor movies.

Great for casual use or quick set up needs
What a fantastic little unit. Please note: It's not high def, it's not super bright... if that's what you're looking for, you need a bigger unit. Where this one shines is it's ease in setup, portable size, and great (really great) sound. I bought this when I saw it used by someone else in a demo. Companies a, b, and c were giving their presentations. The lull while each vendor set up their projector, ran a power wire, and spent a few minutes correcting the focus and keystone - not to mention the clunkiness of these big projectors, detracted from the products they were presenting, in a negative way. Put simply - in the time it took for setup, we got bored. But one of the presenters whipped out this little thing. Had his presentation already loaded on a usb stick. Simply sat it on the table, and off we went. No power plug, no clunkiness. Aesthetically, this thing perked us all up. The lights needed to be dimmed in order to see it decently.. And sure there are larger units that can give the same features but with brighter light, and less portability- but not at this cost. Before I left the room I was already checking out what this thing was, on Amazon. No regrets. Had the chance to use it this recently for an impromptu showing of Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, to entertain the kids at a family party. Picture and more importantly sound quality were excellent. Sound was loud and clear even with chatty kids in a room. Setup was instant, and the kids were enthralled and we were able to set it up tucked out of the way in a room not normally used for movies/etc.. If we had to instead dig out the big projector, stretch an extension cord, find speakers, play around with settings... we wouldn't have bothered, and just would have done something else instead with them. So to be clear - this is NOT a home theater projector. It's not intended to be either. It's a fantastic takealong and great for casual or quick setup use. I liken it to cameras. You've got your DSLR, right? Big, clunky, but takes great pictures. But you don't always want to lug it around. So they make some pretty fantastic pocket-able cameras, too - that take better quality pictures than your phone, but don't require much effort to bring along.

Good projector, great sound, less light, lower resolution, lower cost
We got both the the ViewSonic M1 and the LG PH550 to see which one would meet our needs better. We ended up going with the LG, but I wanted to leave a quick review about the M1 because it was still a good projector. The M1 fits nicely in the hand. It is a very portable size. It has a nice short throw, meaning a big screen even when close to a wall. It has a lot of automatic features, so you don't have to worry about clicking through a ton of menus to do everything. Auto on/off when the stand is opened/closed, auto image adjust as you change the projector orientation, auto input selection, etc. The speakers are one of the standout features on the M1. They have really good sound that fills the room. No need for a separate speaker unless you want to feel the thunder of a powerful system. The stand is well designed and really makes it easy to position the projector how you want it. So why did we go with the LG? In the end, the LG had better brightness and resolution than the M1, although at $100 more it should right?! We figured that we could make up for lower quality speakers with other solutions, but we couldn't make up for the image difference. We needed to be able to make out finer details, like little words and such, so the LG was a better fit, but we were impressed with the M1 so much that we wanted to give it a shout-out as a good projector at a good price. You will just need a darker room to bring out the best in it.

Stopped working in one month
I would have liked this projector if it had worked. It worked fine for a month, not great picture quality or brightness, but good enough for a pico. After a month, it stopped working while plugged in, so you would have to watch on low brightness for a while and wait three hours to recharge. Two weeks later, it now does not work at all. It is still under warranty, so I now have to pay for shipping to get it replaced and wait weeks for a replacement that may work equally terribly. I just wish it had stopped working a week sooner so I could get a refund and get a product that I believe will function for over a month. To be clear, I was also very careful with it. Treated it properly and never dropped it.

Hits the sweet spot of portability and sound and size
LOVE IT. LOVE IT. Perfect for the non-videophile. Great for parties or gatherings or having fun. Do not buy this if you are going to nitpick it. Sure it doesn’t have the brightest bulb or best resolution. But that’s not what it’s designed for. It’s designed for fun. With the built in speakers and battery you just plug up and have a night of fun. Couple photos are from a 185 inch view. It’s pretty dang good picture quality this huge! My remote works really well so not sure other reviewers comments on that. It just is super portable and fun. Grab if that’s what you want. If you’re not going to move your projector get a brighter and better resolution one. But if you want portability and ease grab this. The audio is so loud too. I’m moving up as this was my jump into projectors to see if I would like and I bring it out for my kid to have fun and watch a family movie. I move mine all the time so it was a perfect purchase. Just make sure you have the HDMI cable and if you need maybe a USB C TO HDMI cable if hooking to your computer or iPad.

Impressed by its quality
I bought the M1 as a very portable projector to showcase quick slideshows and project books/videos to my daughter before bed. I wasn't expecting an impressive product, but something portable and quick to assemble and store. As soon as I tried it for the first time I was amazed! For its size, it offers an impressive bright image (not full HD, but that I knew) that is pleasant to see. The projector is quick to mount and it offers HDMI and USB-C as main connections (it also has a USB for stickers, but I didn't try that one). The menu is easy to navigate and quick to jump into the image. The speakers are fine, the quality (for Harman Kardon) is not mindblowing, but one can't fit great speakers in such a small case. And they do their job and provide way better sound than laptop speakers. Overall, this is a mini-projector that I totally recommend and that surpassed by far what I expected from it. If there is something that has a lot of room for improvement is the controller... clumsy and it has a terrible range. So usually I end up using mostly the buttons on the projector, as I'm close enough to manipulate them.

Great Product but Customer Support is dismal - Just get a similar product from a better company
I love this projector sooo much! It’s easy to use, convenient, excellent image quality, and great audio! The only MAJOR downside is the customer service. My family and I loved the projector so much I bought a second one for just my parents to have. One day the projector just randomly stopped working, they went to turn it on and it just didn’t work - no drop, no water spill, nothing! So we contacted support and an agent said they would send a label so we could return it to them to try to fix and if they couldn’t then they’d send us a new one. We were really happy with that and felt reaffirmed in our complete pleasure with this projector. But weeks passed and we had t heard back so we reached out to support again and were told that the previous agent had no authority to promise what he did and that there was nothing they could do and that I just had to buy another one. What a disappointment and so unprofessional! The products great when it performs, but if something randomly malfunctions due to NO CAUSE of your own then don’t expect this company to stand by their customers or their product - they’re just wherever the money is.

Best sound for your buck
People who buy without researching and then leave negative reviews should be tarred and feathered, lol. HERE are the basics. 1. It is bright enough that even in a small office with 6 fluorescent lights overhead you can play a 36-inch image on the wall, after that the darker the better. I use it about 7 feet from the wall for a huge image of about 7 feet. 2. 480p, we are all spoiled with numbers we think 480p is bad... 480p is DVD quality. I am old enough to remember when DVD came out and we thought it was the clearest picture possible. Unless you are up close looking for individual pictures, don't worry, your eyes adjust and this does a fine job. You have to think of size... Your local theater can't use 480p because the screen on 20 feet tall, 480 pixels would be about one pixel an inch. But on your wall at maybe four feet tall, pixels blend together and you don't see do much. 3. People complain it doesn't have every feature, SO GO BUY THAT ONE! You plug this into an HDMI source and you play video, that is all I want. 4. THE MOST IMPRESSIVE SOUND. I just bought a 900 dollar projector with Harmon Kardon speakers AND a subwoofer, and the sound does NOT compare. Even though both units us 3 watt Harmon Kardon speakers, and the big unit has a subwoofer, it only reaches HALF the volume this one does. I use this at HALF volume and it fills the room, higher volume is too loud. So if you want to plug a projector in sometimes to an HDMI source, and never worry about carrying a second set of speakers, this is the one for you. If you want wireless and android and huge built in storage and super bright, go spend 1000 dollars and get it. This is 350, and worth every penny.

Great home projector at a good mid point price
Keep an eye on this as they do drop the price from time to time (at the time of this review - Oct 2018 - price dropped to £248). Absolutely brilliant for home use - bright, sharp images, excellent sound from Harman/Kardon speakers, compact remote control, rechargeable battery with good battery life, completely portable projector. So glad I purchased this rather than cheaper models - this is simply an excellent product for the price. For Apple users, get the official certified lightning to HDMI adapter (see my separate review) - bite the bullet and fork out £50 for it as no other adapter will work. Once you get it, it connects and streams seamlessly from iPhone and iPad. As at end of October 2018, I’ve streamed Netflix, Amazon Prime, BT Sport, Apple TV, BBC iPlayer, YouTube plus loads of other apps. As another reviewer has said, Sky Go does not stream due to licensing restrictions. Only slight cons I feel worth mentioning: - there is a bit of light bleed around the edges of the projector - some people may find the fan slightly noisy (although I find that once the audio is playing, it’s not that noticeable) - the stand doesn’t quite stand true so you may need to adjust it None of the above mentioned cons materially change the experience for me - the overall quality and functionality of the product at this price is amazing.

Also volle Kaufempfehlung von mir. Wenn das Gerät noch langfristig funktioniert (die LED soll ja 30.000 Stunden halten!!!), dann sind sogar 5 Sterne zu wenig ;-)

Now, that's a MINI Projector
Outstanding, this thing really is a GREAT device, finally a keeper. I was looking for a portable little projector and I started with the RtTech little cube which is actually not bad at all except for the fact that the image is not focused on the whole screen at once, either left or right side is blurry, so it went back. Next came the Toumei, brighter image, but unnatural colors, no adjustment possible, could not connect wirelessly to Android phone, gone back. Aaxa M5, bad co,ors, bad remote, gone back. And so I get to this one, I was debating between the more expensive Xgimi and Nebula, but I thought that Viewsonic has been doing this for a longer time so they should have a better product, so they may have a product with the controls that I want for the image. And it does, this one has a normal UI, not the cheap Chinese nonsense, I get 80" from about 6' away, but no zoom, automatic Keystone but manual focus, not the end of the world. The speaker is superb, at par with a Sonos One, or very close. All in all, it is a great product, a little more luminance wouldn't hurt, but it has a very good image. Now I just have to find the friends to go party and watch movies at the edge of a forest as they show in all the pictures, sadly none were included. Realistically, I bought this to watch movies or YouTube in my backyard under the gazebo, can't wait to install my retractable screen for it. Next project, mosquitos control products.
