Wool and the Gang The One Merino, Euclayptus Green, 50g, Aran/Worsted

Lovely wool

Very soft and nice material. The colour is beautiful. It splits easily, so it was a bit difficult but I am glad that I chose this beautiful yarn. I will try different colours.

I’m glad I wasn’t paying for this yarn as it certainly isn’t the best available. However it was the first time I had knitted with merino yarn. It was nice and soft as stated but I didn’t like knitting with it as it tends to split and had a tendency to be slightly stretchy. There was also a several knots in each of the 50g balls so making it quite wasteful and time consuming if I didn’t realise when starting a New Row, so would need to back up work as I don’t like rejoining mid row. That way the extra yarn can either be be used for sewing up later or worked into the seam. Colour stated was accurate to the one in the picture, it’s only saving grace. This yarn was purchased by a customer friend and sent directly to my address. I was making three little girls jackets for a wedding so I was nervous of them not being perfect. However they did look extremely lovely and customer and her daughter were very happy with the end result!

Great quality, great colour

Horrible to crochet with, the yarn splits so easily. Nightmare

I landed up sending this wool back as when I started knitting with it I started noticing dirty marks all over the wool the first time I though maybe I had been careless and touched it with dirty fingers or something and continued knitting but as i got further into the ball more marks started appearing and it became apparent that the wool had picked up some oil or grease from the machines at the factory. I was fairly disappointed by this as other than the marks it was a lovely wool to knit with and very soft and flexible but when your doing a white aran jumper you can't risk having marks that may or may not come out when washed. Perhaps I was just unlucky and got a batch that they didn't notice the marks on so it slipped through quality control I will consider trying again in the future to see if they have resolved issue as i really did quite like the feel of the wool.
