12 Sets 90 Degree 3 Way Cross Pipe Connector Clamps, Fits 1/2" EMT Conduit

These were perfect for what I needed. Building a garden trellis and needed these to combine conduit pipes. Great fit

I ordered these for a garden frame for tomato plants, made with 1/2 inch EMT conduit. I knew I’d need to use the shims. What I didn’t know is how lousy the construct would be, how loose and bendy, even after I got all the corners assembled. There was so much torque and toggle that it wouldn’t stay square. If you tighten the nut and bolt on each side, you don’t get uniform closure around the pipe end; you get a gap, instead. And then that allows the pipe to shift back and forth. I chose these because they were priced better than the alternatives. Big mistake. I spent more money in the end and went through a lot of hassle; I had to drill holes through the pipes and add screws to keep them from wobbling so badly. Even that wasn’t enough to make a frame I could actually position into place, so I had to add cross braces and buy connectors for those. I have seen countless examples of the simple frame I wanted to build in online videos and photos. None of them used cross braces, because it was just a simple rectangle structure that wasn’t enormous or anything, just for an 8x4 bed. But I had to use five cross bars to achieve stability—two on each short side, and one over the top—with these horrible corner clamps. And that was after putting three screws in each corner, one per pipe, just to keep the bracket in place. Worse yet, as I maneuvered the construct gently, to access other holes, I watched in horror as the metal just… bent. It was no longer forming a 90 degree angle, more like a 70. And I was able to take two pliers and bend it back fairly easily, which was just as bad. I almost returned these, but once I had gone through the trouble of screwing them to the pipes and adding cross bars everywhere, it was not worth taking it all apart. But I do know I will never buy this product again, and I’m concerned about how I can use the four pieces that remain, after my two bed frames, since they are so fiddly and annoying, not at all stiff enough to stand up to the leverage of conduit structures. Should’ve just gone with a more expensive option, because I would have spent a lot less in the end, and not had to drill 24 holes through metal pipes. This was much more painful than it needed to be. And don’t get me started on the crappy quality of the shims…

Needed to build a frame out of 1/2" EMT conduit to hold up a pallet cover. These clamps made assembling the frame easy. Only drawback is that they are just (nickel?) plated, so will start rusting once out in the weather. Also the plastic sleeves that slip over the conduit to increase its OD to better fit these clamps do not provide a very sturdy joint. They allow the conduit to slip, so if these joints are subject to a lot of movement, the conduit will likely slip out of the clamps without a more aggressive attachment. Maybe using a set screw that punches thru the plastic sleeve and bites into the conduit would solve this.

Used these to build an RV cover, quality was great and functional! Would buy again!

Good product, fair price

I was building a cold frame for some of my plants using 1/2” EMT conduit and purchased these for joining the pieces together. I was impressed with the fact that there were additional holes in the fittings where I could add a few machine screws if necessary to secure the connections. Unfortunately, it’s necessary to use sleeves (included) on the ends of the conduit in order to fit into the connectors properly. It proved to be nearly impossible to get all of the conduit pieces secured in the connectors at once, and the sleeves had very poor grip which made them slide out of the fittings far too easily. This in turn made the connectors impossible to tighten properly, which meant the whole project was a bust. I found another brand of fastener that, while still difficult to work with, was at least sturdier and a bit longer in order to grip the sleeves better. Overall, I would probably never do another project using 1/2” EMT, as the available fasteners aren’t really made to accommodate them (thus the necessity of the sleeves). I really dislike leaving negative reviews, but in this case, this product was completely unusable for me.
