Loved the Rat 1. Love the Rat 2 more...
The Ontario Rat 2 is the perfect size and weight for EDC. Smaller then the Rat 1, the Rat 2 still provides a full four-finger grip and has very good ergonomics. This is a well-designed, high quality, sturdy knife that feels really good in the hand. Came super sharp right out of the box. The quality you receive at this price point can't be matched by many other folding knives on the market. After buying this I purchased several more as gifts for family members and friends. Highly recommended. (One final note: Some reviewers have trashed this knife because it's not USA-made. If you must have a USA-made knife, then don't buy this one. But if you want one of the best deals in a high-quality folder on the market today, don't pass this excellent knife up.)

A solid, high quality and well rounded EDC knife at an unbeatable price.
I've had this knife for a month now and I absolutely love it. The factory edge is nice and sharp right out of the box. Flicking the knife open is tricky at first, but once you get used to it, it's super fast and smooth, almost feels spring assisted. It's very comfortable to hold and use as well. Part of me wishes Ontario made a size between the RAT II and I, as this knife seems a tad smaller than my previous EDC's and the RAT I looks quite large from the video reviews I've seen, but it's certainly low profile and always finds itself on my pocket. It fits perfectly in that miniature pocket within the full size front pocket on my jeans, which is rather handy, as the last few knives I've had have worn holes in my back jeans pocket. Overall, if you're looking for a nigh Benchmade quality EDC at a fraction of the cost, this is the knife for you.

Well made Rat 1 in brown and stainless steel
I have the Rat 1 and now the Rat 2. I thought the Rat 1 was a good size but the Rat 2 is a perfect size. They are both well made pocket knives. Much higher quality than their price point indicates. I personally avoid the black coated blades because of the tendency for them to show wear more. I preferred a non serrated blade as well because of the external sharpening challenge.

looks good, razor sharp
Good looking knife, feels good in the hand. Firm lockup, sharp, sharp, sharp. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is, it doesn't flick open like my Kershaw blades do. If I try to flick it open with my thumb I'm afraid I'll cut myself so I use two handed opening. Otherwise It's a good knife for the money.

Good knife
I see on forums that the Ontario RAT today is not of as a high a quality as the one from a few years ago. I don’t know whether that is true, but this is a high quality knife consistent with the asking price. I am very happy with its ability to be sharpened and to hold an edge.

perfect
EDIT 12/9/17 This knife is pretty much my exclusive edc now. It is the AK47 of pocket knives; extremely easy to maintain (sharpen), works every time without question, and is CHEAP for the quality you get. It's also very light. I use my knife a good amount and I touch it up once, maybe twice a week. When I say touch up, I mean a few (3-4 per side) strokes on a fine stone and a swipe or two on a strop and it's back to razor sharp. I have even used my leather belt to realign the edge like a strop. This is a little subjective I guess, but I prefer a more malleable steel like AUS-8 every day--for my needs at least. It will not chip as readily when I abuse it. For example, I stripped insulation off copper wire with it and the edge came back no problem. The flipside of that is that it requires frequent sharpening. I have found if you touch up the blade for a couple minutes once or twice a week then it's fine. If you use the knife all day every day then it will be dull on you in no time. In that case you should be carrying a box cutter at work lol. 35 bucks man, can't beat it. ---END EDIT---- I like it a lot for the money. Darn good knife for $35 bucks. I'm a collector and this will see less work than my work knife admittedly. However it's going to be a great knife. I plan on fishing with it etc.

Excellent EDC pocket knife
This knife is excellent in almost every way. The right size, great action, good design, sharp and holds an edge pretty well. My only complaint is the pocket clip. It should allow for deeper carry in the pocket. About 3/4 of an inch stick out of the pocket with this clip. Still, I highly recommend this knife.

Casi perfecto
