Review: Excellent Speakers for the Money - These have been great, exactly what was expected and the price was right. Well done Dayton Audio!
Review: Quite functional and good value in the right application. Decent imaging. - Good high frequency response and imaging. For the price it's a solid selection compared to other similar options. Trying to get low end out of them is a fools errand and what is there is muddy so temper your expectations in that regard. These can function decently in a passive multi-speaker setup that includes a sub or other full range speakers, but I would not recommend them as a dedicated pair of monitors by themselves. There are better powered options for just a little more like the Eris ones. They also take a bit of power, which was a little surprising to me. If you don't have individual speaker pair volume control then these may not be as loud as you think they ought to be - likely an advantage if you are just buying these as inexpensive surrounds or rears - that's a good application for these.

- TRUE HI-FI DESIGN – A dedicated crossover accurately distributes frequencies between the woofer and tweeter, while the sealed acoustic suspension cabinet provides controlled low-end response with reduced bass distortion.
- JUST ADD AN AMPLIFIER – Connect the passive B40 speakers to a compatible amplifier or receiver. With 6-ohm impedance, 30W RMS/60W max power handling and a recommended amplifier range of 10–50W, they're ready for a variety of compact stereo and home entertainment systems.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ nice looking, not very loud
*by T***W on August 11, 2026*

These are well built good looking speakers. Not sure why they are 6 Ohms, that is a rather odd impedance. By themselves, they don't seem very efficient, the volume is quite low with my 35 watt RMS amplifier cranked. That said, they are tiny bookshelf speakers and aren't designed for high output. When I pair them with a set of similar sized Pre-Sonus active bookshelf speakers attached to the amp's line outs and blend them together, they sound quite good in combination, and fill my living room with a comfortable listening volume with great clarity and presence. However, neither set of speakers (passive Daytons attached to speaker outs, or active Pre-Sonus attached to line outs) is really adequate alone.
