Great Quick Resource for Critical Care Resident
This is a handy, small but bulky little reference book for any critical care resident or fellow. The topics covered are very, very broad, with the caveat being that many of the chapters barely scratch the surface of said topics. The overviews are not very detailed but is a great starting place for new topics or new residents. I do wish the book had more reference tables or graphics to consult quickly, and definitely a little more detail on pathophysiology for complex topics like acid-base, ventilation or circulatory physics, or even guiding decisions on which empiric antibiotics to use for sepsis/bacteremia of unknown source. There are sections on decision making and palliative, which are nice to have but I don't think are entirely necessary in a critical care resource manual (or, perhaps making those sections smaller and expanding the common complex topics a little more). In general, it is a well made reference text that is small enough to keep in your work bag to flip through after or before rounds, or while waiting for something exciting to happen on a boring ICU day or night shift

The physical paperback copy was missing pages 423 to 454. I exchanged it for another copy but it was still missing those pages. I reported this to the publisher, but I'm not sure they even care...
