I have had this for years now and it helps me keep an eye on how clean our water is. It works great every time.

I got this to test the different levels of TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) between direct tap water provided by my municipality, bottled "smart" water purchased in a store, and filtered tap water using a carbon filter used in a typical filtered water dispenser. I expected the purchased bottled "smart" water to have the lowest TDS levels and it did not.I expected the filtered tap water to have a higher TDS level than the bottled "smart" water but it did not.To my surprise, the filtered tap water had the lowest total TDS level of all.Summary:1 - Tap water had the highest TDS level,2 - Bottled "smart" water had the next highest TSD level,3 - Filtered tap water had the lowest TDS levelsIt would have been an interesting experiment to take the bottled "smart" water and put it through the carbon filter and see if its TDS level would be lower than the filtered tap water but I didn't extend the experiment to that step.In any case, whether your results are the same will depend on your own municipalities' filtration quality and the quality or brand of bottled water you use.I highly recommend this economical Digital Water Tester.

Hello,Great for the price. I bought this tester so I could figure out how good my water filter is at filtering out particulates in my tap water. I was a bit shocked how bad my tap water was. I knew it was full of sediment which is typical of the water quality in my area. The water in my area is also full of "additives" (do your research for your area please). But WOW I had no idea it was that bad. Good news...my water filter appears to work well lol.This unit won't tell you what's in your water, but certainly will tell you how much stuff is in your water. How accurate it is, I don't really know. I do not have another proven accurate tester to put this one up against. But just based on my experience with it so far, I can confidently say it's accurate enough to give you a ball park estimate.Included are images of before and after filtering my tap water (using reverse osmosis filter).Red = badGreen = goodTotally worth it in my opinion and has sparked interest in buying something more sophisticated.Cheers and happy hunting.

Bought one back in November and it still working great!Decided to buy a second one for my brother in December and is must be a defect one. The reading is very inconsistent even though water is tested within the hour of each other. The number would jump from 18-140 with the same glass of water. Unfortunately, I forgot to submit the return within 30 days.

Needed to test my water here in Florida and this device is so easy to use. I have a filtration system at one of my sinks which I wasn't sure was still operating at optimum level. I did a test of that system compared to my regular sink and results were incredible. It confirmed that my filtration system was still doing its job and that the water at the sink was not suitable for drinking. The device is easy to use and quick. Inexpensive and works great.

Wife was getting sucked into the hype of a certain (expensive) water filter system which was supposed to create zero dissolved solids water from our tap. After reading mixed reviews about the very short filter life of those models, I decided to invest a few bucks to test my current water to see if I needed it. Got the meter and tested my water out of the tap and it was 48, which the chart shows as fairly soft water and equivalent to a carbon filtered system. Ran the water through an inexpensive filter pitcher and got a reading of 37. Clearly we were good enough to avoid the cost of the "zero" filter system. I can only guess how many dollars I saved by spending a few bucks on this meter. It is very easy to use and the results were repeatable, so I trust it is accurate.
