When I saw that these were recommended for people like me, I decided to try them. After receiving them, I went to a really loud movie to test them. There was a substantial reduction in the perceived volume – it was still loud but no longer deafening. I took the earplugs out a couple of times to make sure my evaluation was accurate, and the sound was extremely loud. With the earplugs in, I could understand the dialog just fine, and there was no difference in the audio quality.
